The Responsible Pier Initiative is a Florida program designed to promote a healthy pier environment for sea turtles and other marine life with the cooperation of fisherman. The three components of the Responsible Pier Initiative include providing first responders with necessary training and resources to effectively respond to sea turtle injuries and strandings, installation of educational signage on fishing piers, and underwater cleaning beneath piers and surrounding areas on a regular basis.

Since Loggerhead Marinelife Center acquired management of the Juno Beach Pier in 2014, it has become an exceptional example for other fishing piers throughout Florida. Launching the pilot program in 2012 in Juno Beach, positive results have already been…

The Kravis Center for Performing Arts is more than just a gorgeous performing arts venue- the Palm Beach County landmark is a non-profit committed to enriching the lives of students and educators in South Florida by providing engaging and enlightening arts education programs. In fact, since opening in 1992, the Kravis Center has provided access to the performing arts for about 2.3 million schoolchildren.

You may ask how this improves our youth in the community, and while as an Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts alumni I may want to say “It just does”, there are actually studies to prove it. According to Princeton, integrating the arts into school curriculum improves academic performance and student discipline, while it also revitalizes…

In Boca Raton, the FAU Owls went from weeks of enduring an intense training camp, to an open scrimmage this past Saturday, to the well-attended preseason Meet & Greet on Sunday with passionate fans of these Palm Beach County football stars.

In 2017, then new head coach Lane Kiffin led FAU to a 11-3 record (up from a 3-9 record in 2016), with his team scoring more touchdowns than all but four programs nationwide. Over the final 10 games, FAU performed as one of the best teams in the country, and star running back Devin Singletary impressed fans as one of the most talented players that season.

According to SB Nation, FAU was one of the…

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) made it easier for both visitors and residents of Florida to complete the boating safety exam required for recreational boaters born on or after January 1st, 1988. Online providers are permitted to offer the temporary certificate exam 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and it can be accessed by tablet, laptops, and even smartphones.

Prior to this change, paper exams were the only option, and had to be completed and passed on the spot by rental vessel operators, while boat rental facilities had to purchase, administer, and mail in the valid hard copies. The newer convenient method can be completed online before a vacation or a trip to rent a boat.

The $3 online exam is 25 questions…

On September 1st, the much awaited recreational snook season reopens in Palm Beach County for the duration of September, October, November, and midway through December.

South Florida snook is one of the most prized and most regulated fish due to a few good reasons. Snook not only puts up a powerful fight, but its mildly-firm white meat has an excellent flavor due to its diet of crustaceans and other small fish. Because of this, if snook fishing was left unmanaged, they would surely be a rare sight.

Buying or selling a snook in the state of Florida is illegal, so if you’re dying to feast on this sly silver fish, you’ll just have to catch it yourself!

The bag limit for harvesting snook is ONE per harvester per day, your catch must be between…

This weekend nothing in particular seems to be running through our waters, but in the spirit of fishing we encourage you to be optimistic, get out there and prove us wrong! Make sure to tag any good catches you post with #WaterfrontProperties for a chance to be featured! Here's this weekend's fishing report:

If you’re looking for dolphin, the bite has been pretty slow, but as usual it’s a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Weed lines have been barren, but if you find any floating debris on the larger side, you may be able to conjure some luck trolling with bonita strips or ballyhoo. Anyone who has caught mahi worth keeping lately has been around 1100 feet or deeper. Shallower than that and you’ll be forever cleaning weed from…

We’re about to hit you with a hard fact that might scare you, but it’s for your own good. Over 70% of ovarian cancers are diagnosed when the cancer has already spread beyond the ovary and throughout the abdomen. Because of a sheer lack of awareness and early detection, over 14,000 women will lose their lives to ovarian cancer this year, according to the American Cancer Society.

This is how you can help! In observance of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Evo Italian in Tequesta will be hosting a special “Girls Night Out” to benefit H.O.W., a non-profit organization that supports ovarian cancer research, educational programs, and provides funding for women with ovarian cancer in financial need.
