Head on over to Jupiter beach this Saturday morning, May 1, 2021 and join the Friends of Jupiter Beach as they help clean up the area shoreline.  Friends of Jupiter Beach is a nonprofit 501(c)3 whose goal is to support and maintain environmentally health, clean and dog-friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida.

In 1994, the threat of closing the beach to dogs rallied a small group of concerned citizens, who quickly began organizing beach cleanups and providing dog waste bags at beach crossovers. Since then, the group has exploded, with individuals and businesses joining in an effort which “repeatedly demonstrate care for their marine environment and the privilege of taking our four-footed friends to one of the last dog beaches in the area”.

Apologies to all the beautiful varieties of Bulldogs in South Florida for this regal holiday was overlooked.  Yesterday, April 21 was “National Bulldog Day”.  Bulldogs, beautiful? Well, yes! French, American, or English — bulldogs portray glamour in their own special way.

They started popping up as furry companions in historical literature about five centuries ago. Today this sweet sidekick continually ranks as one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States. French bulldogs currently sit fourth on the American Kennel Club’s list. Bulldogs, technically a separate breed, are fifth.

Bulldogs were bred originally to help butchers in controlling livestock. The history of bulldog’s traces back to 5th century England, to a breed called the…

For six brown pelicans, freedom was only a few flaps of their wings away. Two adult and four juvenile pelicans were released back into the wild last week by Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.  Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife hospital and education center headquartered in the Town of Jupiter since 1983.

For nearly two months, the pelicans were patients at the sanctuary's wildlife hospital. Some had been treated for injuries incurred after they became entangled in fishing gear. The others were treated for exhaustion because of migration.

The pelicans were transported to the beach at Carlin Park in small carriers, one bird per carrier. As soon as their doors were opened the pelicans immediately flew due east, landing softly on the flat, calm,…

Juno Beach is home to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, a research and rehabilitation center for endangered and injured sea turtles. Several times a day from March to October, the center monitors the beaches for sea turtle nests during nesting season.

Greens, loggerheads, and leatherback nests are most often found along the 9.5 miles of the sandy shoreline that they center monitors. Its important to note that if a sea turtle nest is found, to not disturb the nest, simply observe from a distance.
