Several local restaurants have teamed up together to participate in the first “Eat in for Education” event this January. The Palm Beach Chapter of the Florida Restaurants and Lodging Association (FRLA) is hosting the virtual event to help support educational scholarships for local culinary and hospitality students. The event is scheduled to take place this January 20th and January 21st.

Fifteen local hotels and restaurants will participate by donating three-course takeout meals for the event. Diners will have a two-tier option to spend $50 or $100 dollars on a takeout meal for two. Palm Beach County residents are encouraged to participate and purchase these takeout meals to help benefit the event and help support local businesses.

Did you know that there are only two marked graves in Palm Beach?  Hidden among the dense green ferns of the Pizza Al Fresco courtyard off Worth Avenue, you will find the only cemetery in Palm Beach proper. Side-by-side in a lushly landscaped courtyard, down a Via, just off Worth Avenue you will find to old headstone markers. Neither belongs to a human being.

The more famous of the little-known pair is Johnnie Brown, the “Human Monkey”. Johnnie Brown was the pet spider monkey of Addison Mizner. According to Palm Beach history and folklore Mizner was an eccentric Palm Beach character of the roaring twenties. Johnnie Brown was just one of Mizner’s exotic and unusual pets. The River Center continues to collaborate with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flotilla 52” to provide a series of Boating Safely Classes targeted specifically to young boaters in our community. The River Center is in Burt Reynolds Park on US 1, just north of Indiantown Road in Jupiter.

It was announced in December that the popular ArtiGras Art Festival held every winter will be moving back to Palm Beach Gardens. For the past 20 years, the annual art festival was held in Jupiter but due to construction, the festival is moving back to Palm Beach Gardens.

Recently, the festival organizers have announced that they are looking for volunteers to help partake in the weekend activities. The entirely outdoor festival is taking over the Gardens North County District Park the weekend of February 13th through February 14th, 2021.

Jupiter’s Abacoa hosts a weekly Open Air Dining every weekend throughout the winter. Dine outside along Town Center Drive in Jupiter at one of several restaurants located within Downtown Abacoa.

Downtown Palm Beach Gardens has added a new outdoor fitness program that offers a fun, calorie burning ways to stay healthy. The outdoor shopping and lifestyle center is hosting two fitness classes this January as part of their Downtown Collective X Fitness class series.

 Head to the Downtown Park starting today, Tuesday, January 12th for outdoor Zumba with Jeanne. The Zumba classes are taught every Tuesday and Saturday morning at 9:30 am.
