The Town of Jupiter has a rich historic timeline filled with stories. Tales of the area ranging from the ancient Indians, Tequesta Tribe, that lived here until the European discovery of the area by Ponce de Leon. Also known as an “ocean potato” or “sea cow”,  the beloved Florida manatee is a gentle giant you’ll see calmly cruising throughout Jupiter Intracoastal waters. Manatees have a very friendly disposition, and while it may be tempting to feed or give them fresh water from your dock, it is illegal as they are a protected species.

Manatees are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act of 1978. It is illegal to feed, harass, harm, pursue, hunt, shoot, wound, kill, annoy, or molest manatees. Join the Friends of Jupiter Beach for the first beach cleanup of 2021!  The Friends of Jupiter Beach has been organizing beach cleanups on the FIRST Saturday of every month since 1994.  Join the non-profit organization this Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 8:30am – 9:30am at designated beach crossovers.  Volunteers, ranging from the young to the young at heart, (ages 4 to 84 and multiple generations), arrive from surrounding areas to help remove trash & recyclables.

Friends of Jupiter Beach is a 501(c)(3) community organization whose goal is to support and maintain environmentally health, clean and dog-friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida.

Good Housekeeping Magazine conducted a study of the “60 Charming American Town You Haven’t Heard of But Should Visit ASAP” and not only but the Martin County’s Stuart has made the list. Stuart ranked number six of 60 charming American towns and one of a few Florida towns on the list.

The charming city is a favorite by many.  Stuart is known as the Sailfish Capital of the world because of its location along the banks of the St. Lucie River, the Indian River Lagoon, and the eastern point of the Okeechobee waterways, where many sailfish are found in the waters.

This past week, The Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County hosted the 26th Annual Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade and Toy Drive to spread cheer to over 250,000 spectators on December 5th. The parade made its way up the Intracoastal Waterway from North Palm Beach to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Toys were collected along the parade route by a fleet of volunteer boats, many of which carried uniformed Marines.

Toys for Tots and Little Smiles are reporting that 5,500 toys were collected the night of the parade. Members of the community also made numerous monetary donations online, which will all go towards toy purchases for Toys for Tots and Little Smiles.

The Coastal Conservation Association of Florida had an awesome “turnout” for their 2nd Annual Statewide Beach Cleanup this year by using an online app and a tournament layout.

The cleanup is run similar to a fishing tournament, but instead of submitting fish, participants submit their trash collections!

The event was managed through the iAngler Tournament App and website, and for each 5 gallon bucket of trash uploaded, participants received one entry for raffle prizes including Costa Sunglasses, Academy Sports + Outdoors Gift Cards and American Express Gift Cards provided by CCA Florida and iAngler. 

The event involved 98 total participants for one week straight, and was available in the entire state of Florida. Individuals could choose which…
