Palm Beach County students will get a reduced summer break this year, with the new school year starting August 10, 2021.  Palm Beach County residents need to be diligent of kids on the sidewalks and crossing streets to catch the bus. 

The Palm Beach County School Board approved the calendar this past Wednesday, despite concerns that it cut the summer break from the traditional 10 weeks to seven. The current school year is ending June 18, three weeks later than normal, after the school district delayed the start of the school year due to COVID-19.

For students in Martin County and Palm Beach County, this weekend is the last weekend of summer and the last weekend to take advantage of Florida’s Tax-Free Sales Holiday on clothes and school items.

The Tax-Free Holiday began on July 31st and continues until Monday, August 9th, just in time before the school year starts. During this time, shoppers will be exempt from sales tax in the state of Florida for certain school supplies, clothing, and electronics. The tax will automatically be discounted at check out when purchasing qualifying items.

Students go back into the classroom in Palm Beach County on Tuesday, August 10th and students in Martin County go back into the classroom on Wednesday, August 11th.

With the summer coming to an end for students in Palm Beach County and Martin County, the state of Florida is having their Back to School Sales Tax Holiday again this year.

Beginning this Saturday, July 31st through Monday, August 9th, shoppers will be exempt from sales tax in the state of Florida for certain school supplies and items. The Back to School Sales Tax exemption will be automatically deducted at checkout when purchasing qualifying items.

The Achievement Centers for Children and Families of Delray Beach will unveil its “Adopt-A-Classroom” strategy for the forthcoming 2021-2022 school year.  The purpose of the program is to give crucial support to the organization’s Early Learning Program classrooms. Achievement Centers for Children and Families supporters can make a one-time donation of $1,500 to “adopt” an Early Learning Program classroom.  The donation will help provide supplies to the school children throughout the 2021-2022 school year.

The Palm Beach County public school system was awarded an “A” once again from the Florida Department of Education. The grade comes from considerations including students’ high-test scores on state exams as well as the county’s high rate of graduation

A Jupiter resident is a bit richer now.  The lucky lottery winner woke up nearly $72,000 wealthier on Sunday morning.  According to Florida Lottery Communications, the winning ticket was sold at the Publix off Military Trail and Donald Ross Road in Jupiter.  The Florida Lottery is more than just a chance at luck...it has contributed a lot to Florida's education system.  Including:
