Juno Beach is one of the largest sea turtle nesting locations in the world. The main reason why Juno Beach is the most populated sea turtle nesting location is because of the close proximity to the Gulf Stream current that bends towards Florida.

Stimulus payments are now in full swing as the daily U.S. death toll from the coronavirus dipped for the second straight day, providing hope that the worst of the pandemic could soon be behind us.

Today (Monday, April 13) marks one month since President Donald Trump declared the coronavirus a national emergency. There were fewer than 2,000 confirmed cases nationwide then. Much has changed:

  • The U.S. numbers have exploded, with more than 22,000 deaths – more than any other country – and 550,000 confirmed cases, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

Yesterday, Palm Beach County issued Emergency Order 20-004, which states all residents, employees, and visitors in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain should wear face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The emergency order will go into effect on April 13 at 12:01 a.m.

This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidelines urging people to wear masks in social settings where "social distancing measures are difficult to maintain."

Facial masks can take any form as long as the mouth and nose are covered. Homemade masks have been made using scarfs, bandanas, handkerchiefs and other cloth coverings.

The use of N95 rated masks should be avoided as they are a necessity…

Many area residents have wrongly presumed that Donald Ross Road in Jupiter was named for legendary golf course designer Donald Ross who designed Seminole Golf Club in North Palm Beach.  Beautiful gated communities such as Bears Club, Trump National, and others buffer the active roadway. Are you curious who or what inspired the busy thoroughfare’s namesake?

Ellison Wilson was a young man whose family founded Kelsey City (Lake Park).  The family moved from Tennessee to the area in 1923. Ellison was one of eight siblings who also spent many days enjoying the local waterways.  The Wilson’s had a farm along the Intracoastal Waterway, running parallel to Prosperity Farms Road (near The Benjamin School).  His mother was beloved principal of Lake Park…

If you have a child or children who have been pulled out of school due to the coronavirus pandemic, you should not plan on schools re-opening anytime soon. While there is something to be said for optimism, it is also important (more important) to face the realities of the current situation and make plans to continue teaching and helping your child learn at home.

As of yesterday, Gov. Ron DeSantis was on the fence about shutting school campuses statewide for the rest of the academic year, but he said some students may return to school sooner than others.

“We’re going to make the best decision that we can, but it may be that not every county is going to be treated the same in this,” the governor told reporters. “There is nothing wrong with that.…

South Florida has quickly organized to set up a number of efficient testing centers throughout the area. If you or a loved one is ill and you think you may have Covid-19, you will first have to book an appointment over the phone by calling into one of the following testing sites.

You will be asked about the following symptoms:

  • Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions who have fever, cough or any type of respiratory distress.

  • Any people — including health care workers — who within 14 days of symptom onset had contact with a suspected or confirmed coronavirus patient.

  • Any people with history of travel from an affected area or an area with community spread.
