Jerry Garcia was the lead singer and lead guitarist for the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in the San Francisco area. The Grateful Dead have sold more than 35 million albums worldwide. Known for their psychedelic and varied inspirations, the band became known as “the pioneering Godfathers of the jam band world”.

Florida shoppers will get a three-day back-to-school tax holiday. Each year prior to the start of school the Florida Department of Revenue schedules a Sales Tax Holiday weekend where items for back to school are not subject to sales tax. This year’s Sales Tax Holiday will kick off Friday, August 5 and end Sunday, August 7.  Throughout the weekend, Floridians will be able to purchase specific school supplies, clothing and footwear without paying state and local sales taxes. The tax exemption applies to specific items of clothing and footwear that cost $60 or less, as well as certain school supplies that cost $15 or less. Witness a very rare opportunity; observe a sea turtle hatchling release.  Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) is one of Florida’s unique non-profit educational and entertaining destinations dedicated to ocean and sea turtle conservation. On the beautiful Jupiter Inlet stands a historical piece of real estate, a 1906 Sperry built boathouse.  Located within the Suni Sands mobile home park property, the significant structure will be demolished and transform into a historic hotel on the 10-acre site of the Jupiter Inlet.

William Sperry and his wife, who were owners of Sperry & Hutchinson Green Stamps, built the boathouse.  Most people of a certain age, who are from the South Florida area, will recall S & H Green Stamps from Publix.  Customers collected the stamps at the grocery store or gas station, pasted them into booklets and then redeemed them for various items from books, to shoes, to canoes and more.
