The TPC Four Seasons was set up for golfers to go low on Thursday morning. Over an inch of rain fell in the Dallas area Wednesday night, leaving the greens soft and giving the players the green light to go for the pins. Spring Training is just one of the many things that make South Florida a great place to be. Roger Dean Stadium is located in Abacoa and is the spring training home of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals. As we get closer to the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club, more and more golfers have set out with the goal of qualifying for our national championship of golf.
 
Qualifying got under way on May 3rd at Admirals Cove in Jupiter. Since then, there have been 110 more local qualifiers at different locations throughout the country. While the qualifier at Admirals Cove sent five golfers to the next round of qualifying, many other local golfers have found success at qualifiers in different parts of the country.

Trader Joe's, a privately held California based specialty chain of grocery stores, will open its first Palm Beach County store in the PGA Plaza and Prosperity Farms Road in Palm Beach Gardens sometime in 2014.  Trader Joe’s will be located in the southwest corner of the plaza, just west of the Marshall’s department store. The structure will be demolished and rebuilt to accommodate the 12,500 square foot market.

The Juno Beach Town Council are in the initial planning stages to erect a 9/11 memorial.  An estimated $50,000 will be required to accomplish the task.  Well-known West Palm Beach sculpture/artist Mark Fuller has been selected by the Juno Beach Town Council to create the memorial sculpture.

The eighth annual Golf for Wildlife golf tournament will be held at The Fox Club in Palm City on Friday, May 24. The event, hosted by the Treasure Coast Wildlife Center is among the most exclusive tournaments in the area.

When Stacy Lewis returns to New Jersey later this month for the LPGA ShopRite Classic, she will be returning as more than just the defending champion. She will be coming back as a hero.

The number 2 women's golfer in the world and Palm Beach Gardens resident donated $20,000 in November as a result of the destruction from Superstorm Sandy. Lewis remembers seeing all the destruction on TV from Japan where she was competing in a tournament.

The Palm Beach Gardens golf course will be closing on June 1 in order for renovations of the course to be completed.
