Many Americans view Cinco de Mayo as a day for margaritas and Mexican food. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day. Mexico’s independence is celebrated on September 16. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over the French forces of Napoleon III on May 5, 1862, at the Battle of Puebla. Each afternoon the 'Flamingo Experience' at the Palm Beach Zoo offers clientele an intimate encounter for just $35 a person.  A maximum of eight guests are escorted into a sequestered feeding area where the Chilean Flamingos come out to meet their fans. Touching the elegant birds is not encouraged, but the flamingos can touch you with their nares. Obviously, they don't have hands so they check out the everything with their mouths.

The newest picture-perfect restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens is BrickTop’s, a spot with a classic American menu, selection of sushi rolls, wine, and a splendid view of the Intracoastal. The dining room is bright with natural light, shining through enormous windows accented by white wood-lined ceilings and white furniture.
