Good news for Floridians, Governor DeSantis announced last week that the entire state of Florida will begin to enter the full Phase One of reopening the state and its economy, getting one step closer at getting life back to normal.

As more things begin to open in Florida, you are still asked to follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and wear a face mask to keep the spread of COVID-19 numbers down.

Here is what is open in Palm Beach County and the state:

Restaurants

Food establishments may increase their indoor capacity to 50% instead of 25% with the proper social distancing and outdoor seating is encouraged.

Retail Stores

Stores are allowed to operate at 50% capacity indoors.

Libraries and Museums

For the past several weeks, the popular Florida based grocery store adjusted their hours and reserved shopping hours for seniors only during the pandemic. With the Covid-19 numbers continuing to go down in Florida, Publix will now be opening during their normal hours of operation beginning tomorrow, Saturday, May 16th. 

In a press release, Publix announced that shopping will resume normal hours from 7 am to 9 pm and that Publix pharmacies will be returning to their normal hours as well. 

The company also thanked everyone for their support over the past few weeks and understand that some customers will still like to shop when the stores are less crowded and encourage them to shop in the first hour of the day.

A portion of Town Center Boulevard in Jupiter will be closed and restaurants of Downtown Abacoa are joining together to host Open-Air Dining Weekend beginning this Friday, May 15th.  Town Center Boulevard will be closed for four consecutive weekends for the event. 

The restaurants are joining together to host the new event. Tables and chairs will be lining the street of Abacoa’s Town Center between Crescent Drive and Edna Hibel Drive.  The tables will be spread out to create a nice enjoyable outdoor dining experience while still keeping distance.  Tables will be set up six feet apart and no more than ten people can be placed at one table.

Good news for shoppers, The Palm Beach Outlets announced late last week that they will be reopening for shoppers today, Monday May 11th. Last week, Governor DeSantis met with Palm Beach County officials and commissioners and agreed to let Palm Beach County enter Phase One of Reopening Florida.

Phase One includes restaurants and retail shops to open with 25% capacity. The Governor also included hair salons, nail salons and barber shops to reopen beginning today as well.

The popular Palm Beach Gardens mall is hoping to receive the okay from the Governor to begin their own reopening process.  If the State of Florida continues to reopen like it has been doing, The Gardens Mall is planning on reopening their doors by Monday, May 18th. 

The Gardens Mall closed it doors due to Covid-19 at closing time on Wednesday, March 18th.  Recently the mall sent out survey’s to mall customers on tips and feedback on how they should reopen and what shoppers should expect to see when the mall opens back up.

Today, Tuesday May 5th is both Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday. Cinco de Mayo or May 5th, is an annual celebration to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862.  The Mexican Army was led under General Ignacio Zaragoza.

Cinco de Mayo is typically celebrated with tons of food, music, folkloric dancing, battle reenactments, parades and is honored and observed by many around the world.
