Halloween in Hobe Sound will require you running for your life (slightly exaggerated). Zombies have been spotted! Are you up to this years annual Halloween “You Can Run but Not Hide” Race at the Pine School’s campus?  This a great family friendly event, so bring the young and the young at heart.

Beware on October 19th, 2018, as the zombies will be running amongst us.  A zombie is a corpse that has been turned into a creature having a crusade but not a rational thought and very hungry. It's best to come out dressed in a Halloween costume or zombie outfit. To endure the race, you must traverse a 5K course with off-road and street terrain. The run is easy. It's avoiding the zombies that can get a bit thorny, specifically they're after your flags.

Offshore, football-sized blackfin tuna have been pretty easy to get ahold of in about 200-400’ of water. You can use small daisy chains or troll with feathers, but quite a few have been caught trolling with small-skirted bonita strips as well. We had a lot of success with neon green and white skirts this week, but colors are a game that changes by the minute, so try a few different ones and switch the rest out as you go if your target fish is tending to a particular color. Dolphin have been in the same areas as blackfin, and wahoo have been non-existent. On the first cold front that rolls through, we’ll have our local favorite Junkanoo Lures ready. Regardless of our lack of cold

Grouper caught on a dead sardine bottom fishing for snapper, Photo Courtesy of Reel Intense Fishing

With the mullet run being the highlight of the past couple of weeks, most fishing has been geared toward snook, large tarpon, and amberjack chasing schools through inlets, inshore, on the beach, and at the Juno Pier. Your trustiest bait is live mullet itself, which can be found during low light periods of the day away from boat traffic. If you’re looking for a little more fun in exchange for less reliability, using top water plugs creates some exciting action as snook will strike these much harder, sometimes becoming airborne exploding on the surface.

Reef anglers should be catching some kingfish and snapper this time of year, but this week has

According to U.S. News, Florida residents can breathe easy knowing they live in the state with the best natural environment in the nation, placing number one overall for drinking water quality, urban air quality, and low pollution health risk.

The World Health Organization states that air pollution is a major environmental health risk, and by living in areas with high air quality, people can reduce the burden of disease from stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, chronic and acute respiratory diseases, and even dementia.

While the sunshine state may be best known for gorgeous beaches, oranges, and Hawaiian-shirted retirees, Florida also leads the country with lowest air and water pollutants. With the sea breeze sweeping over mostly flat terrain in

Pictured: Snook Caught by Michael O'Connor

The weekend we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: the first weekend of snook season! Oh yeah, and it also happens to be Labor Day weekend. Not only do you have three full days to take home your snook-a-day bag limit, but you also have the notion of the “hard workers holiday” to validate your much-needed R&R time.

The name of the game is snook this weekend, but make sure you know the regulations and have your permit, because FWC will surely be out in full force. While the mullet run hasn’t completely caught fire yet, catch and release snook fishing has been plentiful lately, with the Palm Beach Inlet, Juno Pier, Jupiter Inlet, and Loxahatchee River churning with keepers ready to be your catch of

Every 43 seconds, someone in the U.S. dies from heart disease, stroke, or another cardiovascular disease. Every 43 seconds, someone misses out on the chance to spend another precious minute with the people they love. Every 43 seconds, a family mourns at the loss of a loved one who is now gone forever. The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association are working diligently to decrease the chance of YOU losing someone you love.

In the United States, heart disease is the #1 cause of death, while stroke is the #4 cause. This includes both men and women, young and old, no matter your ethnicity. These are scary numbers, but I have great news! Not only is death from heart disease 80% preventable, but there’s a big way you can help

Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA) ranked ninth best airport in the nation, according to Travel + Leisure Magazine.

Airports across the U.S. were rated on access, check-in, security, restaurants, bars, shopping, and design by readers of the popular travel magazine.

Stand-out features of PBIA are its eight-hole putting green, a full service salon and spa, the KidZoo play area, outdoor fenced-in pet relief areas, nursing suites, free WI-FI, charging stations, nine restaurants, and two bars.

Airports have become more than just a brief stop on the way to a destination, and now play a substantial role in economic development. A major draw for home buyers, having a world-class airport like PBIA adds to the desirable Palm Beach area as a top

Want to learn how to catch Grouper, Snapper and other reef/wreck dwelling fish? Check out the free West Marine Bottom Fishing Seminar in Jensen Beach on Thursday, August 15th. Expert anglers will present how to hook nearshore fish, which baits and lures to use and how to rig a fishing pole based on the type of fish you want to hook.

Bottom fishing is different from sport fishing because it's done in more shallow waters and the pole is rigged with a weight tied at the base of the line with the bait and hook a few inches higher. There are many ways to rig a line in bottom fishing and it's usually based on the fish you're after. When hooking a Grouper for example, an angler will use the "fish finder rig," but fishing for Catfish, they'll probably use
