The Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta are nestled between Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. Both areas cater to the outdoor style, as they wrap around the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway, which provide incomparable views to residents. For this reason, water sports and boating are abundant. This time of year is sea turtle nesting season in Florida. The majestic sea turtles make their way out of the ocean and onto shore to lay their eggs. During the summer months, Jupiter becomes a safe haven for nesting turtles that have been coming to lay their eggs on these beaches for hundreds of years. 

The town makes a great effort to change all of the beach road lighting to an ambient red color that will not disturb the turtles and prevent them from coming ashore to nest. The traffic lights get a special filter that makes the light only noticeable to cars driving along the road and the correct angle and of course there are strict rules observers must follow when it comes to watching the turtles nest. The Food Truck Invasions have been long celebrated by locals and tourists alike and have become so popular that they now occur multiple times a month in multiple locations. Weeks ago, the town announced it would be closing the beloved and highly trafficked Burt Reynolds Park West in Jupiter to add some new improvements. The plan was to close the park fro June 1 to December 31. But after an outpouring of concern from local boaters and fishermen in regard to the success of their business and leisure surrounding the world of boating, the town delayed the improvements. 

There has not been a new release of when the park will be closed for construction yet, but fear not local boaters, it will not happen this summer.

The plans for the new park call for adding two-dozen parking spaces large enough to fit a vehicle and boat trailer and to reduce the number of spaces for vehicles without trailers.…

For a limited time at the Loxahatchee River Center in Jupiter are several life-sized replicas of some of the native sharks that live in our Floridian waters. 

This special exhibit-taking place at the center features a life-sized replica of an 8-foot bull shark, a lemon shark and a nurse shark that you can get up close and personal with. Also, on display at the Loxahatchee River Center are a beautiful series of photos of sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and a variety of other native marine creatures. Each year, over 25,000 visitors make their way to the Loxahatchee River center to learn about our local ecosystems and their plants and animals.

A subject due to be voted on July 19th by the town council involves the plans for a $500,000 mini golf course. This lavish mini course would be 18 holes and would find a home in the Jupiter community of Abacoa located on the northeast corner of Main Street and Chancellor Drive. 

On May 10th the planning and zoning commission of the town council “unanimously recommended approval” of the course as stated by the Palm Beach Post. The mini golf course if approved would be open for business in about a year’s time. The currently vacant property in which this mini golf course would be located was purchases in 2015 for $5.1 million. The property include 93,000 square feet of Abacoa commercial property and 3 acres of vacant land that would be dedicated to the…

Green Cay Wetlands and Nature Center

Green Cay Wetlands and Nature Center in Boynton Beach is a gorgeous, big park offering tons of opportunity for outdoor adventure. The park is centered on nature and offers a 1.5-mile boardwalk that you are allowed to bike on. The boardwalk hovers over the native wetlands and while on it you can see some amazing Floridian wildlife you may have never seen in person. From bobcats to alligators to birds of prey, you won’t want to miss this park experience. The park also features an indoor educational center with animal exhibits, a lecture hall and a gift shop.
