This past weekend, Waterfront Properties was lucky enough to sponsor the Paws and Reels Fishing Tournament to fundraise for Amber’s Animal Outreach. Over 30 other companies sponsored or donated raffle gifts, and 20 boats registered for the first annual tournament.

Last Thursday, fishing teams and supporters gathered while Rob "The Fly" Navarro and Tournament Director Lacey Hagler went over rules and regulations, and a captain’s dinner was provided by Sailfish Marina.

[JUPITER, FLORIDA, June 10th, 2020] – Waterfront Way Foundation presented a check in the sum of $20,000 to Place of Hope this Tuesday from Waterfront Way Foundation’s “Cruise For Kids” event in May of this year. This amount was then doubled by Place of Hope’s Emergency Response Matching Fund to bring contributions to $40,000 in support of the non-profit organization.

With the help of hundreds of individual donors, local foundations and a legendary golfer, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches used a Palm Beach golf event to successfully raise more than $300,000 to provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors during the coronavirus pandemic.

Golfer Tiger Woods is among those who have aided the West Palm Beach-based organization in providing more than 27,000 meals during the past nine weeks to seniors from Jupiter to Lantana.

Woods, a Jupiter Island resident, designated $83,333 to Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches as part of his role in The Match: Champions for Charity event held May 24 at The Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, the organization said.

The Palm Beach Outlets is stepping up to feed a need in the community in response to the deadly coronovirus pandemic.

On Monday morning, the popular West Palm Beach mall will convert into a drive-up food distribution center with the help of several volunteers from Feeding South Florida.

Every Monday in May from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., families in need can simply drive up and receive a week supply of groceries. Items include protein, fresh produce, eggs, milk, and other essential goods.

In addition to groceries, the Junior League of the Palm Beaches will provide each family with feminine hygiene products for women in need.

The Palm Beach Post reported recently that philanthropist and Palm Beach County resident Lois Pope gave $1 million to the Palm Beach County Food Bank, the largest gift in the food bank’s history.

The money will go to support and expand the food bank children’s program, Food4OurKids program, now renamed Lois’ Food4Kids.

“It’s very unusual,” Karen C. Erren, Food Bank executive director, said of the gift. “Mrs. Pope has really come to the forefront to ensure children in this community get access to the food they need.”

Every week, a backpack with seven meals for children, plus one meal for the family, is distributed through Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the county.

A silver lining in the coronavirus pandemic is the number of rescue animals that have been adopted throughout South Florida. Dogs at one of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control's kennels have a big reason to smile and wag their tails right now.

For the first time in the shelter's history, they all got new homes during the coronavirus pandemic.

"An incredible and joyful thing happened today. For the first time in the history of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, we have completely emptied one of our three dog kennels," the shelter wrote on Facebook.

The city of West Palm has more than doubled its contributions to Restaurateur Rodney Mayo’s nonprofit established to feed workers who have been laid off because the Coronavirus.

Mayo is one of the owners of Subculture Group, which is one of the Palm Beaches most successful restaurant organizations owning 17 establishments from Subculture Coffee, to Howley’s, Camelot, and many other popular destinations.

Like many restaurants, the Subculture Group was forced to lay off workers due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
