Independence Day is coming up this Saturday and many are wondering how they can celebrate while still practicing safe social distancing

Watch on TV

Many cities have canceled their festivities, and with that, the main draw: fireworks. But some are moving forward. Your best, and safest, bet is to watch either in your backyard or on a TV or computer screen. No, it won’t be as good as the real thing. But it’s a small price to pay for your health and safety.

In New York City, Macy’s fireworks show, a spectacle that usually beckons residents to rooftops and parks on July 4, will take place on several unspecified nights from Monday through the holiday, with each display lasting only five minutes. They will be set off from unannounced locations…

Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday (June 21), so if you want to do something fun for your Dad it’s time to start planning. Here are a few Father’s Day suggestions for those who live in the Palm Beaches.

Go Paddleboarding

It's always a good idea to take Dad out on the water. The Palm Beaches have 125 miles of tropical waterways, so treating him to a paddleboard or kayak is a surefire hit. There are many places to go kayaking or paddling, including the Jupiter Inlet, Lake Worth Lagoon, and sections of the Intracoastal Waterway. You can rent the needed gear at places like Jupiter Outdoor CenterBlueline Surf and Paddle Co. or Visit Palm Beach. Odds are that there’s an outfitter near you, no matter where you’re staying in The Palm Beaches.

Go…

This upcoming Monday is Memorial Day, the unofficial start to the summer season. Memorial Day is an American Holiday observed on the last Monday of the month of May.

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor the men and women who died while serving in the US Military. The day was originally known as Decoration Day and originated in the years following the Civil War in the mid-1860’s. It wasn’t until 1971 when Memorial Day became an official federal holiday.

The day is usually celebrated by many Americans by visiting grave sites or memorials, holding cookouts with friends and family, lake and beach visits and parades. This year is a little different however, many Memorial Day events across the country have been canceled due to social distancing…

Many people charge into the New Year with a laundry list of resolutions only to quickly run out of steam, peter out and, by February, resume their normal routines. Here are a few helpful tips for sticking to your New Year’s resolutions and having the best year ever!

Start Small

Make resolutions that you think you can keep. If, for example, your aim is to exercise more frequently, schedule three or four days a week at the gym instead of seven. If you would like to eat healthier, try replacing dessert with something else you enjoy, like fruit or yogurt, instead of seeing your diet as a form of punishment.

Keep It Simple

Sometimes people find themselves aiming for an overhaul of their entire lifestyle, and this is simply a recipe for…

While most of us simply call it a “Christmas Tree,” the green thing in your living room, the one surrounded by all those pretty presents, is actually called an “Evergreen Fir.”

Evergreen Firs have traditionally been used to celebrate winter festivals (pagan and Christian) for thousands of years. People traditionally used Evergreen Fir branches to decorate their homes during the Winter solstice, as it made them think of the spring to come. The Romans used Fir Trees to decorate their temples at the festival of Saturnalia. And Christians use it as a sign of everlasting life with God.

Although history is not completely clear on the actual origin of the modern Christmas tree, Germany is generally credited with starting the tradition as we now know it…
