Registration is now open for the annual Run 4 The Sea. The run is put together by the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach and this year marks the run’s 10th year since beginning. The 2021 Run 4 The Sea will be a little different this year than previously. This year the run will be completely virtual and will be able to be completed from a location of your choice.

The 10th Annual Run 4 The Sea is open to all runners, walkers, and hikers of all ages. The race benefits the Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s mission which is to promote the conservation of the ocean’s ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.

This Saturday, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their reoccurring weekly Self-Guided Beach Cleanup. Now more than ever the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center needs your help to help keep our beaches clean from debris.

Beginning in early March through the end of October is Sea Turtle Nesting Season, where thousands of sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center monitors the beaches daily for new sea turtle nests.

This Saturday beginning at 8:30 am the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is having their Beach Cleanup. Volunteers can show up anytime between 8:30 am and 11 am and head to the back deck of the center and pick up your supplies at the Marine Debris Sorting Station. After supplies picked up,…

The Sea Turtle Nesting Season has officially begun in South Florida. Researchers at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center have begun keeping an eye for the return of sea turtles nesting along the beaches in Northern Palm Beach County. The center has kicked off its “Respect the Locals” awareness campaign for beachgoers to be on the lookout for sea turtle nests.

Between March 1st and October 31st, sea turtle nest along the sandy 9.5 miles of beach that the Loggerhead Marinelife Center monitors. The 9.5 miles span between the northern Palm Beach County line to the northern boundary of John D. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach offers a unique program that allows the public to adopt a sea turtle from their sea turtle research and rehabilitation center. The adoption program helps benefit further research and continuous care for the injured, sick, and endangered sea turtles housed in Juno Beach.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help protect marine life and help to promote ocean conservation. If an injured sea turtle is found, the center rescues the sea turtle and brings it to their rehabilitation center for treatment and diagnosis before being released back into the ocean.

Every Saturday morning, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts their weekly Self-Guided Beach Clean Ip for those wanting to help keep our beaches and oceans clean. All are welcomed and encouraged to help in the effort. 

Those that wish to participate are asked to stop by the back deck of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center before they begin. The supplies will be available at the Marine Debris Sorting Station.  Once supplies are picked up, volunteers can make their way down to the beach and begin. 

Once finished, simply bring your supplies and trash bags back to the Sorting Station at the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center and pick up a free t-shirt as a Thank You gift for helping to keep our beaches clean.

The sea turtle research and rehabilitation center have a list of events for the public to enjoy this weekend. Head to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center this Friday through Sunday for a day of fun and get a change to visit with the sea turtles.

Friday, February Events at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center

Public Guided Tours: 12 pm and 2 pm

The Public Guided Tours are offered a few times a day and attendees get an up-close look at the outdoor sea turtle hospital and get to see the sea turtles housed at the center. The cost is $10 dollars for adults and $5 dollars for children under 8 years old. All are welcomed to attend. The tour lasts approximately an hour and registration is required prior to the tour to reserve your space.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their second annual Hike20 this March and registration is now open. The event gained popularity last year when it was held in January and is now back again for another year.

The hiking event includes a three-day, two night back country event that will be held Friday, March 5th through Sunday, March 7th. Participants will join trail experts form the Florida Trail Association Loxahatchee Chapter and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff biologist. Participants will be guided through some of the most iconic ecosystems of South Florida.

The hike is not an easy undertaking and campsites, weather, and trail conditions can make this hiking event even more challenging. Prior backpacking experience is recommended…

Niedland Documentary Scholarship Award, for the annual Student Showcase of Films produced by the Palm Beach Film and Television Commission every year.

The documentary film contest aims to showcase the importance of water in Florida’s communities and natural areas. Students in High School and College participating must create original video content to capture their film and storytelling skills.
