Briskly walking three miles a day will yield weight loss at a safe rate if you also maintain a healthy diet. Palm Beach County has parks with walking trails. Bring the entire family to experience Sean Kenney’s Nature POP! a touring exhibit and highlight of our 2022 Season of Awe, Wonder, and Reconnecting. Dozens of intricate Lego sculptures think dragonfly, a woodpecker, flowers, as well as others are set for display at Mounts Botanical Gardens in West Palm Beach. The company that makes these famous interlocking bricks started as a small shop in Denmark. The company was established in 1932 by master carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen. The company made wooden toys, stepladders, and ironing boards. Two years later the business took the name of Lego. The new name came from the Danish words "LEg GOdt” which meant "play well."

Southeast Florida is a great place to live especially if you enjoy the outdoors. Everyone knows about our miles and miles of beaches and palm trees, but some people are unaware that our area also has some beautiful state parks. Here are two of our favorite local state parks.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound offers miles of coastal sandhills, upland lakes, and scrub forests, as well as the pristine Loxahatchee River, make this park a unique spot to explore by foot or water. Historical interests include a secret WWII training camp, story of the shipwrecked Quaker merchant who is the park’s namesake, and Trapper Nelson, the legendary Wild Man of the Loxahatchee.

It has so many opportunities for youngsters and their families to take advantage of being outside.  Daggerwing is located within Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, 11435 Park Access Road in West Boca Raton.

For 30 years, the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter has been responsible for the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of thousands of animals back into their natural environment since opening. Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, the largest such facility in Palm Beach County reintroducing endangered and core species back into our fragile ecosystems. Since the opening of the sanctuary over 1.7 million guests have participated in the free education programs.  These educational programs help inform visitors about environmental conservation and protection.

Earlier this week, The Loggerhead Marinelife Center released two sea turtles back into the ocean. The double release was the first public sea turtle release since February of 2020. Hundreds of people gathered along the beach near the center to witness two sea turtles be released back into the ocean after spending months at the center for recovery and rehabilitation.

The sea turtle release event was Wednesday, July 14th at 9:30 am. The two sea turtles released were named Big Chase and Pike. Pike is a subadult loggerhead sea turtle patient that was found near the Juno Beach Pier a few months back. Big Chase is a male loggerhead sea turtle patient that was found by biologists from the Inwater Research Group at FPL’s St. Lucie site.  Big Chase and Pike…

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton is offering guided tours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. through June 25 with advanced reservations.
