The State Park is located just 5 miles north of Jupiter in Martin County between Tequesta and Hobe Sound. The park got its name after a Quaker merchant named Jonathan Dickinson wrecked his boat off Florida’s coast in 1696.

During the second World War, the park serves as an army base and home to Camp Murphy, an army base for the Southern Signal Corps School. Today, you can still see the barracks throughout the park. Following the war, the property was transferred back to the State of Florida from the Government in 1947 to be used as a State Park. Johnathan Dickinson State Park officially opened to the public in 1950.

Every Monday during the month of September, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum hosts their weekly Twilight Yoga At The Light event.

The popular event is open for all level of yoga and the class is taught by Yoga instructor Mary Veal. The class begins at sunset and you get to experience the serenity and relaxation of yoga on the Lighthouse deck.

If you plan on attending, you’ll need to bring your Yoga mat, a water bottle, and a flashlight. The class will meet 10 minutes prior to the starting time of the class. The classes are weather dependent and last approximately an hour, check their website for more updates.

The popular Climb and Paddle event at the Jupiter Lighthouse is this Tuesday, August 20th starting at 10 am. The adventure starts with a climb to the top of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse to see great views of Jupiter and the water.

After the climb, visitors will meet members of the Jupiter Outdoor Center where you receive your paddle boards or kayaks and travel through the waters of the Jupiter Inlet and surrounding waterways. You may even see sea turtles, manatee, birds and other marine and wildlife along the journey which are frequently spotted during this event.

The Jupiter Outdoor Center and the Jupiter Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their reoccurring Climb and Paddle event this Friday, August 9th.

The tour begins and ends at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse with an hour paddle around the Jupiter Inlet and surrounding waterways an hour before the start time. The event begins at 2 pm and check in starts 15 minutes before at the Lighthouse Museum Gift Shop.

Children under 16 must be accompanied to climb and paddle and children must be 6 years old to participate in the program. Personal kayaks and paddle boards are not permitted.

This Friday night, the city of West Palm Beach is hosting their reoccurring Screen on the Green event from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Come and enjoy the free family-friendly outdoor movie on the waterfront with family friendly activities and more. Screen on the Green occurs on the second Friday of each month and this month the outdoor movie playing is Captain Marvel.

The Grassy Water Preserve is hosting their Kayak Cruise on Saturday, August 3rd at their Nature Center.

During the Kayak Cruise, you’ll guide through the shallow waters of the Everglades while learning about the history and ecology of the Grassy Water Preserve.

The Kayak Cruise begins at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 3rd. With Check-in beginning at 9 am at the Nature Center on Northlake Boulevard. Space is limited and reservations are required to participate. This Saturday, August 3rd, the Jupiter Medical Center is hosting their Loggerhead Triathlon at Carlin Park in Jupiter. The race starts at 7 am and the race will include a 3/8th mile ocean swim, 13-mile flat bike ride, and a flat 3.1-mile run.

The Jupiter Medical Loggerhead Triathlon is one of the longest enduring triathlons in Florida. The event dates back to 1985 and people from all over the county and state come to Jupiter to participate in the event. The event has become a must do event for the southeast race circuit in the United States. The triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event.

The Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society is a non-profit and is one of Florida’s top-rated zoological organizations in the state. The zoo is located in West Palm Beach in Dreher Park and many animals in the zoo are endangered. The zoo houses more than 550 animals and over 190 species and roam throughout the 23 acres of tropical habitat.
