Veterans Day is all about honoring those who have served our country. It is a time for Americans to pay respects to those who have served. It is with Honor, Respect, and Gratitude…Thank you!

The holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on November 11th, 1918, as that was the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. Nonetheless, in 1954, the holiday was changed to Veterans Day to incorporate all veterans in all wars.  When originally celebrated as Armistice Day, the day marked the end of World War I, formally recognized on the “11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month” in 1918. Today we continue to celebrate the day…

While we, in Palm Beach County, often associate November with fall, Thanksgiving and the approaching holidays, it is also important to know November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. Many of us know someone who has this chronic illness.  I have two children with Type 1 Diabetes and this is very near and dear to my heart.  National Diabetes Month is "observed every November so individuals, health care professionals, organizations, and communities across the country can bring attention to diabetes and its impact on millions of Americans.”

Each year the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) dedicates the month’s awareness to a different theme. The theme for National Diabetes Awareness Month is: Managing Diabetes – It’s Not Easy, But It’s…
