October is National Pizza Month.  Pizza Today Magazine decided to dedicate a month to pizza and chose October. Many people in Palm Beach County must enjoy pizza by the number of pizza places in the county!

Modern pizza evolved from similar flatbread dishes in Naples, Italy in the 18th or early 19th century. The word pizza was first documented in A.D. 997 in Gaeta and successively in different parts of Central and Southern Italy. Pizza was mainly eaten in Italy and brought to the United States by emigrants from there.

There is a new law effective October 1, 2021 in Palm Beach County.  The new law will raise the state’s legal age to vape and smoke tobacco from 18 to 21, a threshold that already exists in federal law. Supporters say the measure is necessary to stop youth vaping.  The law will also make it illegal to smoke or vape within 1,000 feet of a school.

State Representative, Matt Whillhite stated, “We are sending a message to the Florida legislature or our government that we want to make sure that people are doing the best thing possible following obviously the federal law, but reinforcing it in the state of Florida and we want people will be healthy and we want to be protected and we want them to understand the consequences of smoking or vaping."

The Indiantown Rodeo is coming back to the Palm Beach County area October 15 and 16, 2021.  The rodeo is part of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women’s Pro Rodeo Association sanctioned events.  The action will include bull riding, bronco riding, bareback bronco riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, and much more.  Rode is a part of American history and culture. It gives spectators a window into traditional cowboy activities required to tame wild horses and cattle on the range.

Today is National Beer Day!  All throughout Palm Beach County are tons of craft breweries.  Stop by anyone of your favorites and raise a glass!  Give thanks to the innovative German monks.  German monks became master brewers, coming up with some of the fermentation techniques that brought the world closer to the beer we know and love today.

Today, there are light beers with great flavor and less calories as well as dark beers like Guinness, served up warm in authentic English, Scottish and Irish pubs alike. There are ales and lagers which are distinguished by the type of yeast used.
