The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is a non-profit zoological organization located at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach. Take the kids to the Palm Beach Zoo, for a low-cost Palm Beach County outing during the month of September. The zoo will be offering FREE admission for children of the age 12 and younger through September 30, 2021.

The zoo houses more than 550 animals, which includes over 190 species. Many of the species are endangered and inhabited within 23-acres of lush tropical habitat. As part of the 17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Palm Beach County residents and visitors are eligible for FREE admission to many participating local museums and cultural institutions on September 18, 2021. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy attractions for free. 

Museum Day is a one-day event in which participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. The State of Florida offers a way for residents to contribute to a causes close to their heart through specialty license plates. The plan to use a specialty license plate to build a billion-dollar fund for state park repairs now includes additional tags for veterans, Biscayne Bay, and Margaritaville.  The specialty plates offer Palm Beach County residents an opportunity to adorn their cars with their favorite causes.

Did you get sunburned in Palm Beach County or elsewhere?  Did you go to the beach, out on the boat, or in the pool and you didn’t bring the sunscreen?  Bet it was cloudy outside and what were the chances you would need sun protection and now you look like a “lobster”.

Getting “fried” is a rookie blunder that even a long time Southeast Floridians make occasionally.  Clouds do not completely block off the sun’s UV rays. You are at greater risk to get sunburned on a cloudy day than on a sunny day because you are not as aware of being exposed to the sun.
