Science with Sam is back at Jupiter’s River Center this week. On select days during the month, Scientist Sam is hosting an after-school program aimed for children in grades K through 5th grade.

The science activities in the program include activities such as garden exploration and many hands-on opportunities with wildlife. The event is hosted several times a month and each month has a different theme. The theme for March is Powerful Pollution and Carnivores.

The next Science with Sam program is this Wednesday, March 10th. Tomorrow’s after-school program will focus on Powerful Pollution.

The Sea Turtle Nesting Season has officially begun in South Florida. Researchers at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center have begun keeping an eye for the return of sea turtles nesting along the beaches in Northern Palm Beach County. The center has kicked off its “Respect the Locals” awareness campaign for beachgoers to be on the lookout for sea turtle nests.

Between March 1st and October 31st, sea turtle nest along the sandy 9.5 miles of beach that the Loggerhead Marinelife Center monitors. The 9.5 miles span between the northern Palm Beach County line to the northern boundary of John D. The Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter is hosting five Spring Training baseball games this week. The stadium in Downtown Abacoa is home to two professional Major League Baseball teams during Spring Training.

The Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals call Jupiter home during Spring Training. In a nearby stadium, the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros call the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches homes during their Spring Training games.

Spring Training began last Sunday, February 28th and will continue in Palm Beach County until the end of March. Fans are welcomed to attend the games being held in Jupiter this week.

Located in the heart of Palm Beach Island is the growing and popular Royal Poinciana Plaza. The newly renovated 180,000 square foot outdoor lifestyle and shopping center is filled with lush gardens and two elegant courtyards located on the corner of Royal Poinciana Way and Cocoanut Road.

The Plaza was built in 1957 by architect and builder John Volk. Volk is known for designing homes for the Vanderbilt’s, Pulitzers, Dodges, DuPonts, and Fords. Every weekend from now until late spring the GreenMarkets offer some of the best local homemade goods, baked goods, fresh produce, fresh flowers, local honey, spices and teas, homemade breads, and much more. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is known for their calendar list of events. This March visit the iconic red lighthouse along the Jupiter Inlet for a day of fun and history.

Lighthouse Sunset Tour: Wednesday, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st  

On Wednesday evenings during the month, the lighthouse hosts their reoccurring and popular Lighthouse Sunset Tour. The tour allows visitors to climb to the top of the Lighthouse and take in the incredible sunset views. During the tour, visitors will get a chance to see the Lighthouse Watchroom and even watch the light turn on for the night. The tours last one hour and reservations are required due to space.
