Polo, an equestrian team sport that was once called the game of kings, is going to become a high school sport at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The aspiring and determined private school, Oxbridge Academy, is forecasting to design a field for a polo team in the next year as a part of its new equestrian program and will compete with other teams through the Interscholastic Equestrian Association. “No other high school in Florida can lay claim to its own polo team. Paul Goydos survived more than just the rest of the field Sunday in the final round of the Allianz Championship at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, he survived the course as well.

“The way I was playing, I could easily have been three back,” he said. “The golf course played much harder today. Maybe I wasn’t handling the situation very well, but the greens were quicker, the hole locations were tougher. I just had to hang in there and make pars, see what happens.”

Jupiter Waterway Changes

Next week, February 12, 2015 at 5:30pm The Town of Jupiter will hold a public meeting regarding changes to marine facilities regarding their regulations. The marine facilities the workshop will cover include structures like retaining walls, seawalls, docks and boatlifts. The new additions and updates to be made will benefit owners of waterfront land in Jupiter. The town is seeking to update marine facility regulations to give waterfront property owners more options when it comes to stabilizing shorelines and vessels. “The intent is also to balance the impacts by preserving and enhancing Jupiter’s natural shoreline to promote a healthy marine environment for all to enjoy,” say the members at The Town of Jupiter.

On Saturday, February 7th from 11am to 5pm, Jupiter Jubilee will be held by the town of Jupiter for local residents at the Jupiter Community Center. The event has been taking place annually since 2002, when Jupiter’s 75th Anniversary Celebration was held a couple years prior. The event was such a success that town leaders set about putting together an annual event, usually on the first week of February.
