The Juno Beach Fishing Pier is one of Palm Beach County’s popular attractions for both locals and visitors for great fishing and a great ocean view.

Jack Nicklaus is already synonymous with South Florida golf. In addition to becoming one of the first professional golfers to call the area home, he has put his name behind many golf courses in the area with his design firm. The list of golf courses that he has had a hand in working on is about to grow as well thanks to a new golf community currently in the works.

The Avenir development is currently being built in the Palm Beach Gardens area on western Northlake Blvd, and Nicklaus and his design firm, Nicklaus Design, has bee picked to design the golf course that will be a centerpiece of the new community.

Biking is a perfect outdoor activity for those trying to maintain their social distance while still getting exercise and enjoying the great outdoors. Thankfully, Palm Beach County has some of the best biking trails in all of South Florida.

The Hill

The Hill in West Palm Beach is one of the few actual hills in South Florida where you can bike some steep inclines to test your endurance. The bike path is made out of crushed shell rock and is approximately 2.4 miles long and about 2 feet wide. Even though you will ride through native forests, most of the trail is exposed to the sun, so wear appropriate clothing and apply sunblock.

The Gardens Mall is a popular destination for both locals and visitors in Palm Beach County and Palm Beach Gardens. The two-story enclosed shopping mall opened in 1988 and has become an upscale shopping destination.

The mall features 1.4 million square feet of space with over 160 boutique, specialty shops, restaurants and more to come. The Gardens Mall features five anchor stores Sear’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Recently the mall has added new shops, restaurants, and boutiques to their directory.  Some of the new retail stores include Peloton, South Moon Under, Carmen Sol, Kendra Scott, Tesla, Shake Shack, and True Food Kitchen.

Free Covid 19 Testing is being conducted at 751 Executive Drive, West Palm Beach, in the BrandsMart parking lot, Starting Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. The tests are for ages 18 and older only. Please wear a mask to the testing site.

The Grassy Waters Preserve’s Eagle Trail is open, and fishing from shore is permitted, even as the preserve’s Gator Lake Fishing Pier Improvement Project begins this week. The Gator Lake Fishing Pier, at 8537 Northlake Blvd., is getting new decking and railings, a sun shelter and improved Americans with Disabilities Act access.

 South Florida Publix Supermarkets has issued a mask mandate. The major grocery retailer announced Thursday each customer will be required to wear face coverings starting Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Publix feels it is their way to contribute to keep the community healthy and safe.

The Boca Raton Museum of Art recently announced a new summer art class aimed for children, teens, and adults at its Art School Campus. Children can join in on the Keep Kids Smart with Art classes this summer and adults of al ages can choose from a new art series of innovative artmaking experience.

Classes began on July 6th and will take place every week until August 14th. The classes are aimed to help the community and provide a creative environment with fun and colorful projects for all art skill levels.

Yesterday, the Palm Beach County School Board met to discuss the reopening plan for the upcoming school year. The meeting started at 2 pm yesterday, July 15th and lasted until late last night when the school board finally announced their decision early this morning just after midnight.

The Palm Beach County School Board voted 7-0 early this morning in favor of the superintendent’s recommendation to begin this upcoming school year with virtual learning. Students are supposed to be due back in the classroom on Monday, August 10th but due to the new decision for virtual learning the new start date has not been announced.
