Florida shoppers will get a three-day back-to-school tax holiday. Each year prior to the start of school the Florida Department of Revenue schedules a Sales Tax Holiday weekend where items for back to school are not subject to sales tax. This year’s Sales Tax Holiday will kick off Friday, August 5 and end Sunday, August 7.  Throughout the weekend, Floridians will be able to purchase specific school supplies, clothing and footwear without paying state and local sales taxes. The tax exemption applies to specific items of clothing and footwear that cost $60 or less, as well as certain school supplies that cost $15 or less. Witness a very rare opportunity; observe a sea turtle hatchling release.  Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) is one of Florida’s unique non-profit educational and entertaining destinations dedicated to ocean and sea turtle conservation. It is located between Riviera Beach and North Palm Beach. John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is named for its previous owner, the philanthropist John D. With Florida’s spiny lobster season approaching, Sailfish Marina Restaurant is hosting the 4th Annual Singer Island Spiny Lobsterfest on August 6 from noon to 8pm.
