Several changes and additions are coming to the Jupiter are over the next several months and year. The area of Jupiter Inlet Village that stretches from A1A and Jupiter Beach Road all the way north to the Jupiter Lighthouse will see several renovation projects and new additions over the next several years. Here is a look at what is happening in the area.

(2) US Highway 1 Drawbridge Restoration- The Florida Department of Transportation project will provide maintenance for the mechanical equipment, as well as restore the existing bridge house and add a pedestrian walkway. Construction is expected to begin on this project in 2015.

Stacy Lewis won her first major as a professional in 2011 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. It was the last time a female American golfer won a major on the LPGA tour. That was until Sunday, when Lewis won again, this time at the Women's British Open. 

Having to play 36-holes on Sunday due to the third round being postponed Saturday because of high winds, the Palm Beach Gardens resident and Medalist member finished birdie-birdie on the final two holes at St. Andrews to record a final round 72 and a two shot victory.

This weekend, Tiger Woods finally got win number 18. It wasn’t majors though (he is still stuck on 14), but rather World Golf Championship titles. Woods shot an even round 70 on Sunday at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational to win his fifth tournament of the year.

The win was Woods’ eighth career victory at Firestone Country Club, matching the record set by Sam Snead at the Greensboro Open and Tiger himself at Bay Hill, and was done in dominating fashion.

Woods started the week off with a first round 66 on Thursday, finishing the round two shots off the lead. That would be the last time he would trail. The Jupiter Island resident lapped the field with a 9-under 61 on Friday and flirted with a 59 for most of the afternoon.…

Waterfront Properties own Michael Bellemur won the 46th Annual Robert Trent Jones Classic at Birnam Wood Golf Club in California.

The member-guest golf tournament is one of the signature events held at the Santa Barbara club every year. Bellemur and his playing partner Jay Stein competed in the three day event with all three days having a different format. The first round was a two-ball aggregate event with two man scramble and better ball events taking place the other two days.

Michael won the overall championship with a final round 68. Birdieing the final hole to force a playoff, Bellemur birdied the first playoff hole to capture the title.

On Wednesday, and a day before the start of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, Jack Nicklaus and PGA Tour Commisioner Tim Finchem sat in the clubhouse at Firestone Country Club and made a historic announcement.

In 2015, the Presidents Cup will make it's first ever trip to Asia and on Wednesday it was announced that it would be held at a Jack Nicklaus designed course. Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Korea has been selected to host the event. Located in the Songdo International Business District, just 40 miles west of Seoul, opened in 2010 and has hosted a Champions Tour event as well as the Songdo Championship on the Asian Tour and the Korea Women's Open on the KLPGA Tour.

For a number of professional golfers, the path to a PGA Tour card in 2014 will begin in West Palm Beach. That’s because Bear Lakes Country Club has been chosen by the PGA Tour as one of the first-stage venues for the Tour’s Qualifying School.

Held September 9-13, Bear Lakes will welcome 80 players who will all hope to accomplish their dream of playing professionally on the PGA Tour. About one third of the field is expected to advance from the 54-hole stroke play event. Those who advance from Bear Lakes event will then have to survive three more stages with the Q-School final being held in La Quinta, California in December. The top 50 finishers in the California final will earn their PGA Tour cards.

Golf Digest recently came out with their annual list of the top 100 golf courses in the United States. Coming in at number 13 on that list is Seminole Golf Club in the Seminole Landing community.

Located in North Palm Beach, thee Donald Ross designed course is one of the most private golf clubs in not just Florida but the entire country. A new men’s soccer league will be coming to the West Palm Beach area this September.

Starting September 29th, soccer players from Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, and the rest of Palm Beach County can get together and play in a fun and organized 7-on-7 soccer league. The league, which will be played at South Olive Park in West Palm Beach, will cater to all players, whether you are just starting the play the game or are a seasoned soccer pro.

Open to all Palm Beach County residents ages 21 and up, the league will be run by people passionate about the game of soccer and in conjunction with the City of West Palm Beach Parks and Recreation department.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of the Treasure Coast will host a 4-person golf scramble tournament on Saturday, August 3rd.

The tournament, which will be held at Monarch Country Club in Palm City, will start at 8:30 am with a shotgun start followed by an awards luncheon at 1:00 pm. Breakfast will be served before the outing starting at 7:30 am.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

At last week’s British Open, several golfers complained about the pin placement on several holes. Well if they want to complain about the pin placement next month at the PGA Championship, it might be hard to blame just one person.

That’s because, for the first time in history, fans will get to select where the pin will be placed on one hole at Oak Hill Country Club, sight of golf’s fourth and final major of 2013.
