On October 28, world number one Tiger Woods and world number two Rory Mcllroy will compete in a one-day 18-hole match play event against each other in China.

It will be the second time the Jupiter Island resident and Palm Beach Gardens resident will face off in this format in front of a national and international audience. While the two have played numerous times in the Jupiter area since both moved to South Florida, they have only gone head-to-head once in a match-play event.

In 2012, Woods and Mcllroy competed in a pay-per-view event at Jinsha Lake International Golf Club just outside of Beijing with Mcllroy shooting a 67 to win by one shot.

While the talk in China this week is all about the Duel at Jinsha Lake Part II,…

Mike Weeks of Jupiter stood over his bogey putt on the 54th hole with a chance to record three consecutive rounds of 67. While he missed the putt (he shot a 68) his three day total of 202 was not only good enough to win the 38th Palm Beach Kennel Club County Amateur Championship, it was also good enough to break the tournament record.

“It’s a huge relief,” said Weeks, 49, the membership director at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach. “People have been telling me for years that this was a tournament I should win, it’s a tournament I’ve wanted to win, and now I’ve finally did it.”

He broke the previous record of 203 set by Erik Downs of West Palm Beach in 2010. With the win, Weeks was also…

“Our focus is making a deal in Palm Beach Gardens. We are not looking anywhere else,” said Giles Kibbe, the general counsel to Houston Astros owner Jim Crane.

The proposed spring training facility would be off of Central Boulevard on the north side of 117th Court North on an 82-acre piece of county owned land. The biggest variable in getting the stadium approved is the estimated $100 million cost to build the facility. The state would pay for half of the cost but the city and county would need to come up with the other $50 million.
