Get into the holiday spirit this weekend with a holiday tradition in the Palm Beaches.  Good cheer returns Saturday, November 10, 2018 with the annual holiday tree lighting.  A cold snap is expected (wink, wink) and first "snowfall" of the season is anticipated.   CityPlace, the shopping and dining district in the downtown area of West Palm Beach, will be hosting the event.  South Florida’s Palm Beach County is a slice of heaven where you can exercise outside, essentially, any time of year.  However, this time of year is almost too good to be true not to escape the gym and get outside. Nature is a perfect playground.

According to a study in the journal “Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise”, people are as much as 40 percent more likely to exercise regularly in the summer than in the winter.  Most of the heart benefiting effort comes from leg muscles and glutes.  Imagine the challenge of running beach sand.  Sounds a bit tougher than the treadmill at the gym.

The YMCA has announced that Emmitt Smith will be the keynote speaker at the 10th Annual Prayer Breakfast this December.

Smith became NFL’s all-time leading rusher during his fifteen seasons as a professional football player during the 1990s and 2000s. He is a three-time Super Bowl Champion, and NFL Hall of Famer, and of course- winner of season 3 Dancing with the Stars.
