Beginning on June 16th, 2017, West Palm Beach artist Rene Gibson undertook a project the entire sportfishing and art community has been watching intensely since then. Starting with adorning a single Swarovski Crystal to the tip of the marlin bill, Gibson meticulously placed over 100,000 crystals to create the most brilliantly glistening full-sized taxidermy marlin you will ever see.

Throughout the two-year process, Gibson shared her progress on Instagram for enthusiastic fans, and on June 29th, 2019, Gibson let her daughter place the very last crystal to complete this beautiful piece of art.

The Town of Jupiter is hosting their 22nd Annual Classics By The Sea Race this Saturday, January 11th. The race will include a 5K run, 10K run, and a Kids 1 Miler.

The race will begin in Carlin Park in Jupiter along A1A. Finisher medals and t-shirts will be given to all participants. There will also be food and an award ceremony for the top finishers in each category and the run will include chip timing.

Runners can pick up their Race Day Packets, Runner Bibs and Shirts at Tri Bike Run located on US Highway 1 in Juno Beach on Friday, January 1-th from 3 pm to 6 pm. Runners can also arrive early on Race Day and pick up their packets at Carlin Park from 5:45 am to 6 am.

The popular Broadway Musical Hamilton is coming to Kravis Center in West Palm Beach this January. Hamilton is set to take over the Kravis Center Tuesday, January 28th through Sunday, February 16th and tickets are selling out quick.

The Tony-Award Winning Musical opened on Broadway in August 2015 and is continuing to sell out every show. The musical tells the story of the American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through music and show tunes. Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and later became America’s first Treasury Secretary.

The musical is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes long with a 15-minute intermission. Tickets are still available to purchase.

The annual Winter Equestrian Festival starts this January at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington. Wellington is the home to the world’s premier winter equestrian event every year.

Each year participates range in age from 2 years old to 70 years old and more than 6,000 horses compete for more than a half a billion dollars. The Winter Equestrian Festival starts in early January and ends in late March. During the course of the three months, the festival is the longest and largest running horse show that sees some of the best riders of their class. Riders come from all 50 states and more than 52 countries and feature adult amateurs, juniors, children and Olympians.

This weekend, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their Hike Through History event.

The Hike Through History includes a 2-mile journey through the lighthouse’s 120 acres Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. Along the way, guests will learn about the history that was shaped by nature.

The program is open to adults and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult and be at least 5 years old. Hiker footwear, active wear clothing, a hat and a full water bottle are recommended for the Hike. The Hike starts at the Museum’s flagpole and the event is weather dependent.

Every Friday morning during the month of January, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their reoccurring popular Hammock Hike. The Hammock Hike is in honor of Gopher Tortoise Day on April 10th where the center will be leading the hike through Loggerhead Park.

The Hammock Hike includes members of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff leading a hike through the park to explore the Gopher tortoise habitat, to learn more about tortoises and maybe even see one along the journey. The Gopher tortoises are keystone species and have a huge impact on the ecosystem they live in. Today, the Gopher tortoise population is declining due to habitat loss, morality and illness.

The holidays are a delightful time with lots of celebrations.  The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is partnering with Palm Beach County Law Enforcementto share the message and remind the public about the dangers of drunk driving. 

This New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2019, law enforcement will participate in the high-visibility national enforcement campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”. During this time, local law enforcement will show zero tolerance for drunk driving.
