Every summer our South Florida beaches are draped with bright colored tape and signs to show where these sea turtles have buried their eggs. Florida beaches are the number one place for sea turtles to nest from May – October. Sea Turtles are most common up and down the Atlantic coastline; groups organize together and do night-time sea turtle walks in July to observe these ancient creatures in their natural state.
Getting the chance to see a Loggerhead, Leatherback or green sea turtle in action is such an unforgettable experience. Visitors are led to these spots on the beach where these sea turtles are digging a hole about one or two feet deep with their flippers. After the sea turtle prepares its nesting ground on the beach the creature will start filling…

Unusual Baits to Fool Big Bass

It might be time to mix it up with some abnormal looking bait that you never thought could get a Bass’s attention. Largemouth Bass are very confident feeders that are capable of confronting large prey items- hence the nickname “bucket mouth.” Effortlessly absorbing prey nearly the size of them, largemouth bass rule freshwater shallows and normally do not let chances go to waste.

Big Bass often keen on frogs, lizards, birds, mice, snakes and more. Artificial water snakes are common throughout South Florida, slithering across lily pads. Field mice and rats normally hunt along the shorelines and sometimes will go for a swim. Nothing better to a largemouth bass than a tired mouse that is struggling and is tempted to climb on…

Weekly Fishing Report 7.11.14

OFFSHORE –Along with the South Florida heat, the dolphin bite is red hot right now, off the Coast of Palm Beach County from Jupiter to Boca Raton. In Jupiter, the best depths of catching these bulls seem to be in 260-280 feet and around 500 feet because of the really nice weed lines gaining together in those ranges.
Sailfish have been reported in 200-300 feet from the Lake Worth/Palm Beach Inlet; Kingfish are also running in 95-105 feet.
On the bottom floor, yellowtail, mangrove and vermilion snapper are chewing in 75-95 feet along with the occasional mutton snapper. Red Grouper are showing up, however, most of them are undersized.
It has been a mixed bag off Boynton Beach, with kingfish, dolphin, blackfin tuna, cobia and…

Although the “Twelfth Night” is being revisited again at the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival after 22 years “ this production promises to be more complex than ones done in the past” according to Executive Producer Kermit Chrisman.  They have infused the concept of plane crashes and landing in the setting of the 400-year-old classic tale, on a deserted island theme.  A must see concept.

While diverging from the original setting, the play…

Admirals Cove golf course maintenance professionals state, “we are mowing it as diligently as we can (including adding additional mowers to our normal rotation). It takes seven days to mow the entire rough. Once we have finished this most recent round of mowing, we will lower the mowers by a 1/4”. After completing each mowing, the objective it to reach 2.25-2.50” in height.”
