Another bumpy weekend ahead in the weather, as another cold front will be passing and sweeping South Florida with high winds. Good news for those anglers participating in The Sailfish Challenge taking place this Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The high winds should bring fire to the sailfish bite to South Florida!

Offshore- Sailfish bite should do well by the weekend, recent reports have announced the sailfish have been swimming around in pods and packs of about 4-5 sails. RESEARCHERS suggest CHOCOLATE is “BETTER THAN BEING in LOVE”

All you need is love, especially so close to Valentine’s Day.  However, a little chocolate cannot hurt; it may even help you feel better!

For years, scientists have been trying to unwrap the mystery of chocolate.  What makes it so irresistible? Is it the cocoa beans, caffeine, sugar or any of the hundreds of combinations that raise our spirits and libido? 

Scientists at Cambridge University have conducted MRI’s of the brain and concluded a rather modest explanation.  Neuroscientist, Adrian Owen, of Cambridge University‘s Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre said, “The scientific data suggests that the mood enhancing effects of chocolate do not appear to affect the brain via a direct biological action.”   Scientists concluded that chocolate is linked to…

FRIENDS OF JUPITER BEACH CLEANUP

Local non-profit organization “Friends of Jupiter Beach” has been organizing beach cleanups on the first Saturday of every month for over 10 years.  Initially, the clean ups began with a handful of volunteers interested in keeping the beach clean of debris and waste.  Today, the “project has evolved into a significant force for environmental care of our environment.” 

Every month an average over 200 volunteers help, remove almost 500 pounds of debris within a 2 and ½-mile stretch of Jupiter beach and the Jupiter Inlet.  This environmental preservation project is partnered up with Rapid Removal Services to haul away recyclables.

Cool breezes are in the forecast as the winter cold fronts decided to roll through South Florida and hopefully keep the fishing patterns more consistent and less scattered.

OFFSHORE- Update on the Silver Sailfish Derby that took place last week caught over a dozen sailfish in just two days and Yellowfin that was a 138 pounds! Their trick of hooking on to so many sailfish is that they chose to make longer runs up the line and look for the sails trolling with small naked ballyhoo and dredges. The teams with live bait stayed closer to home, spotting a few sailfish in 120’ – 160’ feet of water from the Jupiter Inlet to the Juno Beach Pier.
