Juno Beach Pier
The fishing this year in South Florida has been so plentiful and outstanding with anglers catching a variety of different species very consistently all year along. The Juno Beach Pier is known for hooking up tons of fish such as bluefish, redfish, snook, pompano, wahoo, king and Spanish mackerel and the occasional bonefish. There is a tackle shop located on the pier which provides fishing materials such as baits, lures, rigs, hooks and other gear. Fishing rods can be also be rented for all day fun in the sun.

Not only is the Juno Beach Pier open for fishermen, but it also invites others to enjoy the gorgeous…

Fishing Report
Rough and windy ocean kept a bunch of boats at the dock this past week and the weather doesn’t look so enticing this weekend due to the cold fronts, there has been a bit of fishing inconsistency.

OFFSHORE:
With the extreme breezy weather, it may have perked up the fishing offshore! South Florida offshore should expect some schools of dolphin in the 150’-300’ range. The past few cold fronts that have moved in have helped the sailfish jump our way. Boats that are on the lookout for these sails should see multiple per day. Fishermen have been dropping a line to the bottom and have been hooking up on some nice size mutton snappers and couple groupers too.

INSHORE/SURF/PIER:
Inshore action remains best early in the mornings and late evenings. The flats fishing…

Palm Beach County Tourist Development Tax and the State of Florida fund the $5.5 million renourishment beach project.  The sand will be placed along 3,500 feet of beach front and 200,000 dune plants will be planted.  Work on the beach project will take place between sunrise…

Florida’s pioneers of surfing actually date back to the 1930’s with a few Virginia Beach lifeguards who rented concession stands at the beach and demonstrated the sport of surfing using Hawaiian surfboards.  A couple of native Florida guys were belly boarding in Miami Beach and a couple others scattered across the Southern part of the state.  After WWII, active military bases, with service members familiar with using boards for military purposes, settled down and became surfers.

In the early sixties, when surfing began to become very popular in South Florida “Delray was the epicenter of surfing in Palm Beach County, maybe even the entire east coast of Florida” according to Palm Beach County Surf History…
