South Florida Weather

You can almost continuously tip your sun hat by the ending of another flawless day in South Florida. It is the state with the sunniest winter climate on the east side of the United States as well as the highest temperatures on average during the winter months. “The climate has always been Florida's most important natural resources, which is reflected in its official nickname, the Sunshine State."

According to the Palm Beach Post and New York Daily News, the tourism office in Ithaca, New York is waving the flag urging visitors to go to Florida instead! Try something different and go stargazing!  Experience the natural beauty that is the South Florida night sky.  Stargazing is the simply the act of observing stars, moons, planets and other objects in the night sky.  Humans have been observing the stars for thousands of years.  All that is needed is a clear sky away from the bright lights of the city.  Aficionados bring charts, binoculars and telescopes to see distant stars and constellations. 

There are 88 constellations that can be seen from almost anywhere in the United States, but not all at once.  As the Earth makes its orbit, the placement of stars in the sky appears to move.

Jupiter Medical Center announced it has received its largest ever donation! The $15 million gift was from the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation and the Lawrence J. and Florence A. De George Charitable Trust.  The donation will allow the Jupiter-based nonprofit hospital to develop pediatric services in a partnership with Miami Children’s Hospital.

Doctors at Miami Children's Hospital have been using “telehealth technology” to consult on patient care at Jupiter Medical Center for over a year. It is anticipated that the pediatric unit should be open by the end of 2015. The first phase will be a 12-bed pediatric unit at Jupiter Medical Center featuring an operating suite, a playroom and a “Bear's Den” for resting.

For years, scientists have been trying to unwrap the mystery of chocolate.  What makes it so irresistible? Is it the cocoa beans, caffeine, sugar or any of the hundreds of combinations that raise our spirits and libido?

Local non-profit organization “Friends of Jupiter Beach” has been organizing beach cleanups on the first Saturday of every month for over 10 years.  Initially, the clean ups began with a handful of volunteers interested in keeping the beach clean of debris and waste.  Today, the “project has evolved into a significant force for environmental care of our environment.” 

Every month an average over 200 volunteers help, remove almost 500 pounds of debris within a 2 and ½-mile stretch of Jupiter beach and the Jupiter Inlet.  This environmental preservation project is partnered up with Rapid Removal Services to haul away recyclables.
