From the farm to your table is the concept of the new restaurant, Grommet’s Tavern & Eats which was recently opened in Juno Beach, Florida. The name is a twist of two words, Grom, a local term that young surfers are called and Gourmet, hence the name Grommets’. Ironically, the name fits well due to being steps away from the sandy beaches making it the ideal location next to Loggerhead Plaza. “I want this to be a ‘come as you are’ restaurant. Come from the beach, from the golf course, from shopping, from work, with boards, briefcases or strollers. All are welcome,” says Casey Kerlin, owner of this great new restaurant.

Kerlin is a strong believer for protecting and supporting the environment all while enhancing local farms and fishermen in our South…

Cool breezes are in the forecast as the winter cold fronts decided to roll through South Florida and hopefully keep the fishing patterns more consistent and less scattered.

OFFSHORE- Update on the Silver Sailfish Derby that took place last week caught over a dozen sailfish in just two days and Yellowfin that was a 138 pounds! Their trick of hooking on to so many sailfish is that they chose to make longer runs up the line and look for the sails trolling with small naked ballyhoo and dredges. The teams with live bait stayed closer to home, spotting a few sailfish in 120’ – 160’ feet of water from the Jupiter Inlet to the Juno Beach Pier. The beginning of the week went well for anglers searching for sailfish however, as the week went on the warmer the…

In 2014’s market the year began with double-digit price surges and a lack of inventory but it quickly steadied and leveled out. The local housing market is kicking off the New Year with substantial price increases, scarce inventory levels and bidding battles between buyers much like last year’s trend. However, experts and analysts are expecting this boom to stabilize at some point mid-year. These experts are calling this year’s market trends “the first full year of normal following a decade of extremes.”

Don’t be confused by these “normal” predictions. Normal is a very positive description for this market. Bill Hardin, the director of the Hollo…

OFFSHORE- It has been a tough week offshore for anglers, however many fishing teams have been going offshore to practice for The Silver Sailfish Derby. The best bite offshore this  week has been from fishing on the bottom, yellowtail and mangrove snappers were most popular pulling up, in about 70-90’ of water.
