Another bumpy weekend ahead in the weather, as another cold front will be passing and sweeping South Florida with high winds. Good news for those anglers participating in The Sailfish Challenge taking place this Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The high winds should bring fire to the sailfish bite to South Florida!

Offshore- Sailfish bite should do well by the weekend, recent reports have announced the sailfish have been swimming around in pods and packs of about 4-5 sails. To highlight the attention, put out goggle eyes or blue runners that are hanging under a kite, putting out more bait gives you the best chances of catching several at a time. RESEARCHERS suggest CHOCOLATE is “BETTER THAN BEING in LOVE”

All you need is love, especially so close to Valentine’s Day.  However, a little chocolate cannot hurt; it may even help you feel better!

For years, scientists have been trying to unwrap the mystery of chocolate.  What makes it so irresistible? Is it the cocoa beans, caffeine, sugar or any of the hundreds of combinations that raise our spirits and libido? 

Scientists at Cambridge University have conducted MRI’s of the brain and concluded a rather modest explanation.  Neuroscientist, Adrian Owen, of Cambridge University‘s Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre said, “The scientific data suggests that the mood enhancing effects of chocolate do not appear to affect the brain via a direct biological action.”   Scientists concluded that chocolate is linked to…

FRIENDS OF JUPITER BEACH CLEANUP

Local non-profit organization “Friends of Jupiter Beach” has been organizing beach cleanups on the first Saturday of every month for over 10 years.  Initially, the clean ups began with a handful of volunteers interested in keeping the beach clean of debris and waste.  Today, the “project has evolved into a significant force for environmental care of our environment.” 

Every month an average over 200 volunteers help, remove almost 500 pounds of debris within a 2 and ½-mile stretch of Jupiter beach and the Jupiter Inlet.  This environmental preservation project is partnered up with Rapid Removal Services to haul away recyclables.  

Join the volunteers on the next cleanup scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2015, beginning at 8:00am-10:00am.…

Jupiter Donut Opening 2nd Location in Royal Palm Beach

Jupiter Donut Factory has been a staple among Jupiter locals looking to get their donut fix for decades. Soon though, Jupiter won't be the only place that you can get all the delectable treats that Jupiter Donut Factory has to offer.

In March, Jupiter Donut Factory will be opening a second location in Royal Palm Beach. It will be located in the Village Royale Shopping Plaza on the northwest corner of Royal Palm Beach and Okeechobee Boulevard.

The reason for the second location, store owner Don Pascalli said, is because many of his neighbors in Royal Palm and Wellington have to drive 40 miles to buy his homemade pastries. Once March rolls around, there will be a much more convenient location for them.

HISTORY OF THE PLAYFUL PORPOISE in JUPITER / TEQUESTA

During the 1960’s, the Loxahatchee River was filled with so many fish you could practically walk on them. The sea life was in its prime and the river had so much life to offer, but there was one sea mammal that was well-known throughout the area, a special dolphin that once lived in these fresh waters, not too far from the beautiful pristine beaches, by a tall red lighthouse, and close to the grassy flats. The local residents of Jupiter and Tequesta, Florida named this extraordinary Dolphin: “Georgie Girl.”

New Jupiter Restaurant To be Built on Loxahatchee River

It won’t be long until the building that housed the former Brix Italian Fishery, located on the Loxahatchee River, north of Burt Reynold’s Park, will be demolished. In its place will be a new restaurant called the Jupiter Inlet Restaurant. With plans to connect to Jupiter’s Riverwalk, Jupiter Inlet Restaurant will feature 350 seats, outdoor cabana seating, indoor and outdoor live music, and public boat docks with nine boat slips. Directly next to the new establishment will be a new fishing pier stretching 225 feet along US1, a $1 million project certain to attract boaters and fishermen from all over. Prior to these plans, the Brix Italian Fishery had been vacant since 2011.
