Tomorrow, May 23rd the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is releasing Teddy the sea turtle back into the ocean. Tomorrow just also happens to be World Turtle Day.

The sea turtle is an sub-adult loggerhead turtle that was found injured in January near Hutchinson Island. Staffers from the Inwater Research Group found the turtle floating in the St. Lucie power plant canal and contacted the Marinelife Center. Teddy weighed 113 pounds, which is underweight for sub-adult turtles, when the center took the turtle in.

The hospital staff at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center administered antibiotics, vitamins, iron, and fluids after the turtle’s blood work showed poor health due to starvation and anemia. Today, Teddy now weighs 125 pounds and is healthy…

Jonathan Dickinson State Park is a Florida State Park in Martin County settled between Tequesta and Hobe Sound. Located just five miles north of Jupiter, the park features a variety of natural habitats, mangroves, river swamps, and wildlife among its 16 natural communities. The Loxahatchee River, Florida’s first federally designated scenic and wild river, runs through the middle of the park.

The park got its name after a Quaker merchant named Jonathan Dickinson who was shipwrecked off the coast in 1696. This Saturday, May 19th, people all over the country will head to the coastlines to participate in the International Hands Across the Sand event. 

Hands Across the Sand was invented 8 years ago to encourage clean energy and clean water. It's a day of action uniting coastal residents, business owners and beachgoers against offshore drilling according to Diane Buhler, organization founder. Thanks to Florida's multi-billion dollar tourism industry that is dependent upon our white sand beaches, the state is exempt from any U.S. offshore drilling. The Friends of Jupiter Beach is hosting their 9th annual Food and Wine Festival this Saturday, May 19th at The Riverwalk Plaza in Jupiter.

The festival this year will feature more than 45 restaurants and vendors serving signature dishes, wine and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Many restaurants and vendors have signed up again this year in addition to new ones for this family friendly event. There will also be a live performance by the Samantha Russell Band. The Royal Palm Beach Seafood Festival is back and is going to the be held this Saturday, May 19th and Sunday, May 20th at the Royal Palm Beach Commons. The Commons is a 167-acre park with a large grass area and surrounded by water. The festival was formally held in downtown West Palm Beach for the last couple of years and this year the festival has relocated and added another day to the event.

On the first Saturday of every month, car and coffee aficionados gather together to hang out, have fellowship and show off cars. 

The free event takes place in the parking lot of the Palm Beach Outlets in West Palm Beach and draws hundreds of vehicles and vendors. You'll see cars from old classics like VW busses to hot rods like Ferraris. If you have a cool car, t's only $5 to enter it in the show.
