The history of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens is a romantic one.  A wealthy industrialist, Ralph Norton, and head of the Acme Steel Company in Chicago, retired in 1939. He and his wife had acquired quite an art collection over the years.  They decided to move to West Palm Beach, Florida.

Upon moving to South Florida, the Norton’s decided to share their art collection with the community. The Norton Gallery and School of Art was built on their property. The location of gallery and school was linked to the early pioneers. Today that location is known as Pioneer Park, named for the early Lake Worth pioneers that gathered there on occasion.

Manatee Lagoon is a new, free educational attraction in Palm Beach County. The 16,000 square-foot eco-discovery facility features hands-on exhibits to teach guests about these endangered animals as well as the nature surrounding the Lake Worth Lagoon. The center’s observation deck on the second level is the ideal spot to see herds of manatees. Manatees enjoy the warm water outflows from the adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center. Aside from exhibits, there is a multi-functional education area, observation areas, pavilions, picnic tables, and a manatee cam. Admission and parking is free and it is open Tuesday - Sunday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Palm Beach County divers take a dive to a 60,000-pound mermaid sculpture reef. This area has many reefs to dive offshore. This underwater landmark honors a local three-time breast cancer survivor. “Andrea's Reef”, an enormous mermaid honoring the courageous woman.  “Andreas Reef” has is located just 3/4 miles east off the Lake Worth Inlet, submerged under 75 feet of water. The sculptures for the reef were deployed off Ocean Reef Park on Singer Island, August 11, 2016.
