12.5.14 Fishing Report

This past week in South Florida has been pretty blown out due to the windy weather conditions and most boats have been tied at the dock. December 5, 2014: East Winds 15-20 knots. Seas 4-6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Intracoastal waters are choppy in exposed areas. The weather conditions this weekend look a bit more encouraging this Saturday and Sunday, just in time for the Holiday Boat Parade!

OFFSHORE-

The Dolphin bite is still strong and has been swimming around in good numbers from the depths of 200’- 400’. There are occasional sailfish, wahoo, kingfish and blackfin tuna out of Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlets. Along the edge, keep an out for frigate birds as they may be on dolphin and expect bottom fishing to be on…

EAU PALM BEACH MARATHON & RUN FEST

EAU Palm Beach Marathon & Run Fest is the place to race and it is presented by Publix. Signing up to run is an impressive way not only to keep in shape before the holiday celebrations and events, but also for personal enjoyment and goal seeking.

At the Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida the EAU Palm Beach Marathon and Run Fest introduces the marathon, half marathon and 5K races too. KITING FOR KIDS: TOY DRIVE - DECEMEBER 6TH

Upcoming, this Saturday December 6th, is the Second Annual Kiting for Kids Toy Drive held at the Jupiter Beach, Stairway 33 from 3:00p.m. To 6:00 p.m.

Together, a group of awe-inspiring local kite surfers and an incredible photographer created, Kiting for Kids, an organization that originated in Jupiter, Florida as a way for the kite surfing and the beach community to pay it forward to children battling cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

SEA TURTLE CONSERVATION

One way for Florida residents to support sea turtle conservation is to purchase a sea turtle specialty license plate. Proceeds from the specialty license plates help fund the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Marine Turtle Protection Program.

Florida is a key location for endangered and threatened sea turtles of the world.  Sea turtles nest on our Florida shores and forage for food in our estuaries. Five species of turtles are found nesting on Florida beaches and protected by Florida state statutes.  Illegal harvesting, habitat encroachment, pollution, and hazardous boating are some of the things sea turtles fight to survive.

HOURS EXTENDED at THE JUNO BEACH PIER

The fishing this year in South Florida has been so plentiful and outstanding with anglers catching a variety of different species very consistently all year along. This winter, the Juno Beach Pier decided to prolong its hours later on into the evening, so anglers have more time to hook up their trophy catch!

The Juno Beach Pier is known for hooking up tons of fish such as bluefish, redfish, snook, pompano, wahoo, king and Spanish mackerel and the occasional bonefish. There is a tackle shop located on the pier which provides fishing materials such as baits, lures, rigs, hooks and other gear. Fishing rods can be also be rented for all day fun in the sun.
