NOVEMBER IS MANATEE AWARENESS MONTH!

Florida’s gentle giant, the Manatee, roams around the Southeast of Florida all year round, but in the months from November to April you will be able to see a lot more of these mellow sea creatures when things get a bit chilly.

Manatees head to places like freshwater springs, warm waters, or places where the water temperature remains at a constant in South Florida. In spite of their size, the endangered gentle giant has very little body fat and needs warm water to survive. 10.31.14 Fishing Report

For the thrill of Halloween weekend, it seems the fishing will be facing a trick instead of a treat. Not just one, but two cold fronts will affect our fishing forecast. The first cold front is moving in on Friday (Halloween) night and then a second on Saturday, with strong winds making the ocean rough for anglers.

OFFSHORE-
The ocean will be very rough this weekend, but if you are able to sneak through the winds, you may scout a sailfish as the rough conditions are perfect for them and will most likely see dolphin as well. Cobia made a nice display this past week along the edge and around wrecks. Snapper fishing has remained very good out of Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlets too.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME…SET CLOCKS BACK THIS WEEKEND

Daylight Savings Time (DST) is this weekend, which means we get an extra hour of sleep this Sunday morning.  Plan on turning your clocks back an hour at 2:00am, Sunday, November 2, 2014.  Most smartphones, computers and cable television box connections will do this automatically.

This will mark the beginning of Standard Time.  Standard time means we will have one less hour of daylight in the evening for the next four months through March 8. The days will lengthen and transition back to Daylight Savings Time in the spring. 

If you get confused, remember the phrase “spring forward, fall back”.

ReelAbilities Film Festival…November 2 – 5, 2014

ReelAbilities, the nation’s largest film festival dedicated to stories of people with disabilities, makes its Palm Beach debut from Nov. 2-5 at the Mandel JCC in Palm Beach Gardens and will continue with presentations in various venues, including The Alpert Jewish Family and Children’s Service (AJFCS), Ruth and Norman Rales Jewish Family Service and Scripps Research Institute. CATO’S BRIDGE BEACH

Cato’s Beach Bridge, as the locals know it, is a sandy white shoreline, near the Jupiter Lighthouse, and just north of the bridge, is quite possibly one of the most outstanding natural areas in the state.  Located along the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway and south of the Jupiter Inlet Bridge, this “swimming hole” stays crystal clear all day!
