With summer finally here, here are some free or low-cost activities for kids to do in Palm Beach County.

Gardens 60th Anniversary Party: This June 29th, Palm Beach Gardens is celebrating 60 years of being a city. The birthday bash will feature old fashioned games, live music from the 50’s and 60’s, a Classic Car Show, food trucks, fireworks, and much more. The event is Saturday, June 29th at 4:30 pm until 10 pm at the Gardens North County District Park. For more details, click here.

Family Beach Picnics: Join your neighbors for an ultimate picnic on the beach in Delray Beach throughout the summer. The next picnics are July 12th and August 9th from 5 pm to 7 pm. The free beach picnics are located at the Atlantic Dunes Park in Delray Beach.

The iconic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is prepping for new projects on the property. The new projects are aimed to help preserve the land from every changing environment and to help preserve Jupiter’s history.

The Lighthouse is surrounded by more than 120 acres of native habitat and the Lighthouse and Museum is always finding ways to enhance and improve the land and surroundings.

The historic lighthouse was constructed in 1860 and was used to save ships from wrecking in the reefs offshore. The site has been used and eventually included a U.S. Weather Bureau Station, a Navy radio station during WWII, and a U.S. Air Force missile tracking station. The Lighthouse today still operates as a navigation aid for those on the water.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their reoccurring Twilight Yoga at the Light tonight at 7 pm.

The Yoga class welcomes all levels of yoga to join in and watch the sunset and experience the serenity of Yoga. The Yoga is taught by Mary Veal on the Lighthouse Deck every Monday night at sunset.

The class is $10 dollars to attend and you are asked to bring your own yoga mat, a water bottle and a flashlight. The class will meet 10 minutes before the class begins at 7 pm at the Museum. The classes are weather dependent so be sure to check their website for more details.

Abacoa is a community located within the town limits of Jupiter and is a place where people can work, shop, eat, play, live or go to school.

Construction began on the land in 1997 and now is a master planned community featuring single family homes, town homes, condos, apartments, shopping, restaurants and green spaces. The River Center in Jupiter is teaming up with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary “Flortilla 52” for a Boating Safety Class on Saturday, June 22nd. The boating safety classes are aimed to promote safety on the water. The classes are aimed for children and teens but all are welcomed to attend.

The class is taught by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in a lecture style class. Those who attend the class are required to take and pass the Boater Safety Exam to receive their safety card issued by the State of Florida. The State of Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conversation requires that any person who wishes to operate a vessel of more than 10 horsepower and is born after January 1, 1988 must complete and pass a boater safety class.

Tonight, in Downtown Abaoca, the monthly event of Food Trucks will be lining up for their Food Truck Invasions for a night of fun and great gourmet food.

The popular event includes rows of Food Trucks lining Town Center Drive and offer a variety of food for everyone to enjoy. Food Trucks specialize in their own different type of cuisine to stand out from the rest. Some of the food includes desserts, ice cream, burgers, tacos, chicken, and much more.

The next Food Truck Invasion will be this Friday, June 14th starting at 5:30 pm. There will also be a local DJ playing all the latest hits from the Abacoa Amphitheater.

Jupiter is home to one of the very few dog beaches remaining in the State of Florida and the only one in Palm Beach County. In 1989, the Town of Jupiter adopted the policy to allow dogs on the beaches in Jupiter. Since the policy was adopted, the town expanded the initial area to now a 2.5 mile stretch of beach.

The Jupiter Dog Beach stretches from marker #25 at Marcinski Road going north to marker #59 on the south end of Carlin Park. Dogs are allowed to roam free in the designated area of the beach and must be supervised at all times.

The Town of Jupiter has a set of rules they would like everyone to follow, because being allowed to bring your dog to the beach is a privilege. The Friends of Jupiter Beach has also joined in and provides free dog waste bags…

Join the AustinBlu Foundation and The River Center in Jupiter for the annual AustinBlu Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 15th.

This family friendly fishing tournament aims to support outreach efforts and support education and the importance of safety on the water. The two also team up throughout the year to host several Boating Safety Classes.

This Fishing Tournament is unique, not only does it host one competition, but it hosts two, a Release Competition and a Harvest Competition. In the Release Competition, anglers will receive points for the number of fish and the species of fish caught, photographed and released back into the water. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is hosting their 8th Annual Run 4 The Sea 2019 on Saturday, June 15th. The 4-mile run supports the Center’s mission of sea turtle research and rehabilitation and ocean conservation.

The run is timed and will run along A1A in Juno Beach and Jupiter. The run is on June 15th and is open to all walkers and runners who wish to participate. Kids can join in on the fun and participate in the 1-mile Kids Fun Run that will start after the 4-mile run has begun. Parents can either cheer their child on or run with them at no additional charge. The cost for the Fun Run is $20 dollars per child and the cost includes the run, a child’s t-shirt and a medal.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting two Lighthouse Sunset Tours this month of June.

During the tour, visitors climb the 105 steps to the top of the Lighthouse tower and see the spectacular views of Jupiter and the ocean. Visitors will even get a change to watch and see how the Jupiter Light turns on to light up the sky and get a tour of the Watch room to see how everything works.

The tours are approximately 75 minutes long and cost $20 dollars to attend and $15 dollars for Lighthouse Members. The tours start at 7:30 pm and are weather permitting, so be sure to check back and visit their website for updates. Tickets are required and can be purchased online.
