Fishing has been slow this week, especially offshore. A few anglers have scored some dolphin around 400’, but they were lucky enough to find the perfect weedline with a decent school hanging around. Kingfish and snapper have been as scattered as ever, but for those really craving smoked fish dip, the best bet is at the 120’ ledge as usual.

The mullet run still hasn't shown up to turn up the heat on snook fishing, but until then it has still been pretty exceptional during low lighted days and at night. Juno Bait shop recommends SpoolTeks, flairhawks, and Yo-Zuri Mag Darters to lure in snook this weekend. Try for them near bridges, at Juno Pier, or Jupiter Inlet with live croakers. We lost a legend today by the name of Burt “Smokey” Reynolds, and while most of us may have never met him in person, Jupiter residents certainly feel like this loss hits home. Sadly, Reynolds reportedly passed away of cardiac arrest at a Florida hospital on September 6, 2018 at the age of 82 after suffering from heart problems for a number of years. Throughout the decades, Reynolds has made countless contributions to our town, Palm Beach County, and the state of Florida, and his support of film, television, education, and sports had a profound impact on history.

Just in time for alligator hunting season, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission is offering two free courses required for Florida hunters.

On September 22nd and 23rd at the FWC regional office in West Palm Beach, people interested in hunting can attend the traditional, hands-on Hunter Education Course required along with a license to hunt in Florida and beyond. The 2-day course satisfies the legal requirements in all U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Firearms, ammunition and other materials will be provided but students should bring a pen and paper. The FWC will also be holding a Bowhunting Course for those interested, on September 15th at the same location. For this course you must bring your own bow and arrows.
