Fort Lauderdale to Cuba by ferry
Imagine taking a ferry from the Florida Keys to Cuba?!

Boundaries have recently eased; a Fort Lauderdale-based company is planning on introducing a ferry service from the Marathon City Marina in Florida Keys to Havana, by the end of the year.

A four hour trip on the 200-passenger catamaran traveling one-way or round-trip from the Florida Keys to Cuba, Brian Hall, owner of KonaCat, said he is self-assured and buoyant that he can get authorization. Traveling via boat used to be a very popular way of travel before the U.S. government terminated tourism to Cuba shortly following the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Golf Beer Brewing Company is a Hobe Sound based beer brewing company started by three PGA Tour pros, Keegan Bradley, Graeme McDowell, and Freddie Jacobson. Bradley (Tequesta) and Jacobson (Hobe Sound) are local, while McDowell call the Orlando area home.

The event will be held from 5-7pm and will feature live music, beer tastings, as well as meet and greets with Bradley, McDowell, and Jacobson.

Uber is a private mobile transportation network app that allows consumers to request transportation from drivers.  Founded in 2009, Uber has expanded its service to 53 countries and over 200 cities worldwide.  It is like a cab service but the drivers use their own personal cars.

Uber is now available in South Florida. The ride sharing company launched its app-based service in Miami last summer.  It has expanded its service and is available in the West Palm Beach and Jupiter areas.  Prices are averaging 25% less than taxi’s. The PGA Tour wraps up their West Coast Swing this week at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. That means that the Florida Swing is right around the corner, starting with the Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens next week.
