Back to School shopping has begun and this weekend only, the state of Florida is having a Sales Tax Holiday for Back To School clothes and supplies.

For this weekend only, Friday, August 7th through Sunday, August 9th, qualifying items will be exempt from sales tax in the state of Florida. These items include:

  • School supplies selling for $15 dollars or less per item
  • Clothing, footwear, and certain accessories for $60 dollars or less per item
  • The first $1,000 of the sales price for personal computers and certain computer related purchases for noncommercial home or personal use.

The Back To School Sales Tax Holiday will be accepted at any store in the state that offers these supplies and will be automatically deducted at check out.

Palm Beach Gardens is a city in northern Palm Beach County that is home to roughly 56,300 residents and is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area. The city has a total area of 55,000 square miles and roughly two tenths of a mile features water.

Yesterday, the Palm Beach County School Board met to discuss the reopening plan for the upcoming school year. The meeting started at 2 pm yesterday, July 15th and lasted until late last night when the school board finally announced their decision early this morning just after midnight.

The Palm Beach County School Board voted 7-0 early this morning in favor of the superintendent’s recommendation to begin this upcoming school year with virtual learning. Students are supposed to be due back in the classroom on Monday, August 10th but due to the new decision for virtual learning the new start date has not been announced.

Palm Beach County School District have been weighing all the options when it comes to going back to school and what it would look like in the fall.

Summer vacation just started but students are due back in the class on August 10th, but a lot of questions and concerns remain about what the schools and classrooms will look like amid the pandemic.

The school board met Wednesday, June 10th to begin discussing plans for the new 2020-2021 school year and they are weighing three possible scenarios.

Scenarios include:

  • Students resuming in-person instruction full time
  • Full-time distance learning
  • Hybrid Learning where students come in two days a week and continue distance learning three days a week

Good news for college students in Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Atlantic University is planning on bringing staff, faculty, and students back to campus in August. The big questions going around for college students is whether they will resume in-person classes this fall semester.

Palm Beach Atlantic University announced on Thursday, May 28th from their West Palm Beach campus that they intend to bring students, staff, and faculty back to campus to resume classes in August. The school said in a written statement that they plan to continue to follow the CDC guidelines to safety return to teaching and residential living for the 2020 Fall semester.

Because Coronavirus can be spread easily, countless Palm Beach County residents have resorted to wearing face masks to protect themselves.  The virus is transmissible through human contact and exposure to respiratory droplets from an infected person.  When an infected person coughs or sneezes, they force out respiratory droplets into the air.
