Uber is a private mobile transportation network app that allows consumers to request transportation from drivers.  Founded in 2009, Uber has expanded its service to 53 countries and over 200 cities worldwide.  It is like a cab service but the drivers use their own personal cars.

Uber is now available in South Florida. The ride sharing company launched its app-based service in Miami last summer.  It has expanded its service and is available in the West Palm Beach and Jupiter areas.  Prices are averaging 25% less than taxi’s. After requesting a ride, a photo of the driver will flash up on your smartphone, letting you know who the driver is and the make of vehicle.

SOUTH FLORIDA STARGAZING EXPERIENCE…DARK SKY FESTIVAL

Try something different and go stargazing!  Experience the natural beauty that is the South Florida night sky.  Stargazing is the simply the act of observing stars, moons, planets and other objects in the night sky.  Humans have been observing the stars for thousands of years.  All that is needed is a clear sky away from the bright lights of the city.  Aficionados bring charts, binoculars and telescopes to see distant stars and constellations.

JUPITER MEDICAL CENTER receives $15 MILLION GIFT

Jupiter Medical Center announced it has received its largest ever donation! The $15 million gift was from the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation and the Lawrence J. and Florence A. De George Charitable Trust.  The donation will allow the Jupiter-based nonprofit hospital to develop pediatric services in a partnership with Miami Children’s Hospital.

Doctors at Miami Children's Hospital have been using “telehealth technology” to consult on patient care at Jupiter Medical Center for over a year. It is anticipated that the pediatric unit should be open by the end of 2015. The first phase will be a 12-bed pediatric unit at Jupiter Medical Center featuring an operating suite, a playroom and a “Bear's Den” for resting.

POLO BECOMING A HIGH SCHOOL SPORT in WEST PALM BEACH

Polo, an equestrian team sport that was once called the game of kings, is going to become a high school sport at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The aspiring and determined private school, Oxbridge Academy, is forecasting to design a field for a polo team in the next year as a part of its new equestrian program and will compete with other teams through the Interscholastic Equestrian Association. “No other high school in Florida can lay claim to its own polo team. RESEARCHERS suggest CHOCOLATE is “BETTER THAN BEING in LOVE”

All you need is love, especially so close to Valentine’s Day.  However, a little chocolate cannot hurt; it may even help you feel better!

For years, scientists have been trying to unwrap the mystery of chocolate.  What makes it so irresistible? Is it the cocoa beans, caffeine, sugar or any of the hundreds of combinations that raise our spirits and libido? 

Scientists at Cambridge University have conducted MRI’s of the brain and concluded a rather modest explanation.  Neuroscientist, Adrian Owen, of Cambridge University‘s Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre said, “The scientific data suggests that the mood enhancing effects of chocolate do not appear to affect the brain via a direct biological action.”   Scientists concluded that chocolate is linked to…
