Fishing is a popular activity in South Florida. Whether you’re a beginner or have been fishing for years, the waterways of Jupiter and the Loxahatchee River provide an ideal spot for a large variety of inshore and offshore fishing along the 380-mile intercostal waterways of Florida. The Jupiter Jubilee is back for another year and is happening on Saturday, February 2nd. Due to the construction occurring at Jupiter’s Town Hall Municipal Complex, the Jubilee will be now taking place at the Abacoa Community Park. The event is put on by the Town of Jupiter for the area’s residents.

The Town of Jupiter has been hosting the event the first week of February since 2003. The purpose of the event is to bring the community together and celebrate the success and life of Jupiter. every year the Jubilee highlights the community, natural treasures, history and Jupiter’s unique character.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse sits on top of a grassy mount overlooking Jupiter and the Inlet. The red lighthouse has been a part of Jupiter’s culture since it began construction in 1853. Today the lighthouse is open 7 days a week and hosts a series of events throughout the week.

Here is a list of events happening at the lighthouse this January.

Lighthouse Sunset Tour: Wednesday, January 16th, January 23rd, and January 30th
Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse and take in the wonderful views while watching the light turn on to brighten the sky. Jupiter is home to one of the very few remaining dog- friendly beaches in the state and the only one in Palm Beach County.

The Jupiter Town Council adopted the policy to allow dogs on the beach back in 1989. Since then, the dog- friendly beach areas have been expanded to a 2.5 mile stretch of the beach starting at beach marker #25 at Marcinski Road to beach marker #59 at the south end of Carlin Park.

Dogs are free to roam in the designated section of the beach and enjoy the sand and water. Parking is also free, with a parking lot located on Marcinski Road as well as parking along A1A. Dogs are allowed on the beach from sunrise to sunset.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting a Fishing 101 For Kids next Saturday, January 19th from 10 am to 1 pm.

The new program is part of their new Family Adventure Day series and will feature family activities, sea- inspired educational events and adventures about Florida’s history. The day will include a meet and greet with important characters in Jupiter’s history, learning how to fish, story-telling, arts and crafts, live demonstrations, and much more.

The beloved Christmas movie is coming to the Harbourside Place Amphitheater tomorrow Friday, December 21st in Jupiter. 

The holiday favorite came out in 2003 and stars Will Ferrell, Bob Newhart, Zooey Deschanel and James Caan. The movie is about a baby boy that crawled into Santa’s bag at an orphanage in New York and travelled with him to the North Pole. The young boy was discovered at the end of the night at Santa’s workshop and was named Buddy and spent his childhood being raised by elves. Buddy then travels to New York City to find his real family after overhearing he is not an elf and bring Christmas cheer to his family and New York City.

The Annual Feast of Little Italy returns to Jupiter once again in just 3 weeks at Downtown Abacoa.

The 3-day street festival includes loads of authentic Italian cuisine, art, festival rides, traditional games, free wine, cooking demos, live entertainment and so much more. 

The event takes place Friday, November 2nd through Sunday, November 4th. Hours are 10-4 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday. 

Tickets are $5 in advance or $8 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free.
