The Palm Beach County public school system was awarded an “A” once again from the Florida Department of Education. The grade comes from considerations including students’ high-test scores on state exams as well as the county’s high rate of graduation

Earlier this week, The Loggerhead Marinelife Center released two sea turtles back into the ocean. The double release was the first public sea turtle release since February of 2020. Hundreds of people gathered along the beach near the center to witness two sea turtles be released back into the ocean after spending months at the center for recovery and rehabilitation.

The sea turtle release event was Wednesday, July 14th at 9:30 am. The two sea turtles released were named Big Chase and Pike. Pike is a subadult loggerhead sea turtle patient that was found near the Juno Beach Pier a few months back. Jupiter’s Downtown Abacoa is preparing again for a busy weekend ahead filled with baseball games and live music.

Beginning on Thursday, July 15th, the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is hosting three baseball games this weekend. The local stadium is home to two Minor League Baseball Teams, The Palm Beach Cardinals and The Jupiter Hammerheads. During Spring Training, the stadium is home to two Major League Baseball Teams, The St. Louis Cardinals and The Miami Marlins.

On Saturday mornings throughout the summer, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a Self-Guided Beach Clean Up for locals and visitors to help keep our beautiful beaches clean for the sea turtles and other marine life.

Now more than ever, the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center need your help. Beginning in March through the end of October is Sea Turtle Nesting Season, where thousands of sea turtles lay their nests on the beach in our area. Northern Palm Beach County is one of the most popular sea turtle nesting spots in the world, the main reason is the gulf stream current that bends towards Florida. During this time, the center monitors the beaches daily for new sea turtle nests.

The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach is work in partnership with the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County to host “The Power and Pleasure of Artistic Place: Where Women Made History,” a special free exhibition on display at the Cultural Council’s Lake Worth Beach gallery to August 27, 2021.  “Where Women Made History,” is a nationwide campaign to identify, honor, and enhance places across the country where women have changed their communities and the world. This exhibition captures the spirit of the National Trust’s larger initiative.”

One of Palm Beach Island’s most exclusive estates is open for the public to tour and to learn about the history of Palm Beach and the fabulous Gilded Age.  The Flagler Museum, formerly known as Whitehall, was home to Henry M. Flagler and his wife Mary. Flagler was an American Industrialist, one of the founders of Standard Oil, and one of Palm Beach Island’s founders.

The famous Palm Beach landmark features more than 100,000 square feet filled with some of the most important history of Palm Beach and the Gilded Age.  The estate was commissioned by Flagler to be a winter home for himself and his wife Mary as a wedding gift in 1902. The estate served as the couple’s winter retreat until his death in 1913.
