Good news for South Florida, Governor DeSantis announced today that State Parks across the State of Florida will reopen on Monday, May 4th.

DeSantis said” being outdoors in the open air is more low risk” from Talbot Island State Park in Jacksonville this morning.  In addition to the State Parks opening Monday, May 4th, some part of Florida can being the first Phase of reopening Florida.  Palm Beach County is not included in Phase One but State Parks in Palm Beach County are allowed to open Monday.

Earlier this week, Palm Beach County have opened golf courses, marinas, parks, and community pools with social distancing and restrictions.

Today, Martin County leaders will meet up and discuss the county’s next steps in reopening. County Commissioners are holding a meeting this morning at the Blake Library in downtown Stuart. 

The meeting today will review the state guidelines that Governor DeSantis laid out earlier this week about Florida’s plan to reopen in phases. The County Commissioners are currently meeting to make the best decision for the Martin County residents.

Earlier this week, Governor DeSantis announced a slow plan to reopen the state of Florida and Palm Beach County.  It was announced on Monday by the Palm Beach County Mayor and County Commissioners that some recreational facilities may reopen as of yesterday with restrictions to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.  

Yesterday, Wednesday, April 29th, many recreational facilities in Palm Beach County after being closed for the past few weeks due to Covid-19.  Many parks in Palm Beach County reopened yesterday but not all.

Governor DeSantis and Palm Beach County Commissioners and Mayor announced some positive news about the slow down of Covid-19 in South Florida and the start of reopening Florida. 

Palm Beach County is taking gradual steps to start to reopen the county in a safe way. On Monday afternoon, the county commissioners announced that starting yesterday Wednesday, April 29th marinas, public parks, boat ramps, community pools, golf courses, tennis courts and other recreational facilities will begin to open with restrictions and maintaining social distancing practices. The beaches will still remain closed until further notice.

COVID-19 has put in person tours of the White House on hold.

The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, in West Palm Beach, has been diligently working to reformat its programming for a digital audience.
