Lyman Kayak Park in Lantana is a great place for paddlers to slip their human-powered vessels into the water away from the bustle of Sportsman’s Park, where the launch ramps are used mostly for powerboats.

The park’s 30 parking spaces also serve the patrons of shops and restaurants along Ocean Avenue. The park is at 106 N. Lake Drive, about a block north of Ocean Avenue. Parking is free but limited to three hours.

In addition to a kayak launching area and parking lot, the park features a 180-foot pier overlooking the Lake Worth Lagoon, open space covered with grass, bicycle racks and benches.

Lighthouses have guided mariners along Florida’s coast for centuries. Many do not know that Florida is home to 30 historic lighthouses, many of them are nearly a century old themselves with the oldest dating back to 1838. There were several others but over the years have fallen victim to erosion, fires, storms, and demolition.

The lighthouses range in height from 28 feet high to 175 feet high, almost half of the remaining historic lighthouses in Florida are over 100 feet tall. The Lighthouses are now operated by the Coast Guard but that wasn’t always the case. The federal Lighthouse Service and the Coast Guard merged in 1939 and today many of the Lighthouses have been preserved and are open to the public to tour and visit.

The World’s largest inflatable theme park is coming to Boca Raton this weekend. The large touring theme park, Big Bounce America, currently holds the official title in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest bounce house at 10,000 square feet.
