Every Friday morning during the month of January, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their reoccurring popular Hammock Hike. The Hammock Hike is in honor of Gopher Tortoise Day on April 10th where the center will be leading the hike through Loggerhead Park.

The Hammock Hike includes members of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff leading a hike through the park to explore the Gopher tortoise habitat, to learn more about tortoises and maybe even see one along the journey. The Gopher tortoises are keystone species and have a huge impact on the ecosystem they live in. Today, the Gopher tortoise population is declining due to habitat loss, morality and illness.

The Palm Beach International Polo Season started this December 29th and last until mid-April 2020. Thousands of equestrians and Polo lovers flock to Palm Beach County’s Wellington every year to see some of the best Polo matches in the world.

Wellington is known as the Equestrian Capital of the world and the most popular destination for the Equestrian lifestyle. The Palm Beach International Polo Club and the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center are both located in Wellington.

The holidays are a delightful time with lots of celebrations.  The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is partnering with Palm Beach County Law Enforcementto share the message and remind the public about the dangers of drunk driving. 

This New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2019, law enforcement will participate in the high-visibility national enforcement campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”. During this time, local law enforcement will show zero tolerance for drunk driving. The Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society teams up with Florida Power and Light for the holiday light display at the zoo. The light display is called Zoo Lights and happens every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night during the month of December.

The new holiday tradition is for all and includes over one million eco-friendly holiday lights scattered around the Palm Beach Zoo. The holiday lights will be illuminated starting at 6 pm until 10 pm on certain nights during the week. The front entrance will feature unique themed displays of the Florida Wetlands and the Tropics of the Americas.

Come and celebrate the Palm Beach lifestyle at the Lilly Pulitzer’s Beach Bash that helps support and benefit the Sea Turtle Hospital at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center and the friends at Lilly Pulitzer have partnered together for the ultimate Beach Bash party. The annual Beach Bash is now its 14th year and is one of Lilly Pulitzer’s largest annual charity event.

The theme this year is Squeeze the Day, because the fashion brand Lilly Pulitzer once started as a juice stand. The bright and colorful patterned outfits and designs were founded by the former Palm Beach resident Lilly Pulitzer in 1959. This Saturday, head to Juno Beach to help keep our beautiful beaches and ocean clean. Every month a group of friends gather together for a monthly Beach Clean Up.
The Beach Clean Up is hosted by Lynne Wells and Blue Friends and the event is held on the third Saturday of every month. All are welcomed to help keep our beaches clean.

You are asked to bring a bucket to collect the trash, gardening gloves if you have them and closed toe shoes. Following the hour-long Beach Clean Up there will be a light breakfast sponsored by Dunkin Donuts and Trader Joes. There will also be complimentary coffee provided by Oceana Coffee.

Known as one of the prettiest fish on a Florida reef, parrotfish have vibrant patterned scales of green, blue, purple, yellow, and red. If you’re diving on one of our local natural or artificial reefs, you’re bound to see a few of these gentle beauties grazing on the bottom.

While being beautiful should be reason enough not to bring a parrotfish home for dinner, many people bring home parrotfish to keep in their aquarium for this same reason. However, there are many reasons we must leave this gorgeous grazer in the ocean!

Parrotfish spend up to 90% of their day eating algae and dead coral- basically cleaning the reef! This is so important, because without their help, reefs would be smothered by growth and die.

Riverbend Park in Jupiter is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located on Indiantown Road.

The park is a little over 665 acres and recently has undergone some renovations to improve the park. The new improvements this year are an observation area, outdoor picnic pavilion, new kayak launching stations, parking lot and more.

Riverbend is becoming the popular hotspot among the locals. On the third Saturday of every month, a large group from Blue Friends and the public get together and hosts their monthly Beach Clean Up.

The Beach Clean Up takes place along the beaches of Juno Beach. The Clean Up last approximately an hour and you are asked to bring gardening gloves, buckets and sun protection to help participate.

Following the Beach Clean Up, there will be a light breakfast sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Palm Beach Gardens and complimentary coffee by Oceana Coffee.

The Beach Clean Up’s are to help to keep our beaches clean that thousands of sea turtles gather and nest along the shores of Juno Beach. By keeping the beaches clean, the sea turtle nests and sea turtles can stay strong and heathy.
