A holiday-time event that is unique to Southern Florida is the Boat Parade. All throughout southern Florida’s waterways local boat owners decorate their vessels with millions of lights to celebrate the holiday season. The glistening boats line up and parade throughout the waterways for local spectators to watch. This year is the 45th Annual Boynton Beach Boat Parade. 

The parade will begin on Friday, December 8th at 6:00pm. “This flotilla of brightly-decorated boats will line up at the Lantana Bridge near Old Key Lime House and motor south along the Intracoastal Waterway to the C-15 canal in Delray. The holidays are a time for festive celebrations and joyful moments with friends and family, but more importantly the holidays are a time for giving. Every year events in our community bring everyone together to donate and help those in time of need.

This year and for the past 23 years, the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County (MIAPBC) hosts its annual Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade. Where residents and neighbors decorate their boats with holiday lights, decorations, holiday music, and of course some holiday cheer.

Loggerhead MarineLife Center, a staple to our community, is home to the many sea turtles that inhabit our beaches. The center undertakes long term research to rehabilitate and conserve the various sea turtle species, as well as educate the public on how they can help protect the sea turtles.

The center has grown in popularity among the locals, with its state of the art facility that is free and open to the public, seven days a week.

 Fort Lauderdale is often known as the “Yachting Capital of the World”, being home to the two largest cruise ship ports in the world, as well as being home to the world’s biggest boat show.

This November, Fort Lauderdale is hosting their 58th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The show will take place at 7 locations throughout Fort Lauderdale, on November 1st through November 5th, featuring over 1500 boats from over 1200 exhibitors from around the world.

The Andrew “Red” Harris Reef Foundation is a Jupiter based foundation dedicated to enhancing the marine environment. Memories of Andrew “Red” Harris are of a promising, vibrant and loving young man. The native Jupiter resident loved his family and friends dearly, as well as fishing and diving in ocean waters. Tragically, Andrew was struck by a boat while saving a friend's life snorkeling June 8, 2014.

The Andrew "Red" Harris Foundation hopes to assist protecting the wellbeing and vitality of our local ocean waters by building artificial reefs. The artificial reefs are donated to the Palm Beach County Artificial Reef Program. The Army Corps of Engineers have already issued the permits for placement sites in the ocean off Jupiter’s coastline.

Did you know that a group of British aviators landed their planes in Jupiter? They were allies with the United States and practiced water landings and takeoffs on Jupiter’s waterways the winter of 1916-1917.  The 3 small, single engine bi-winged seaplanes were obvious Allied Planes of World War I. They were painted with traditional motifs used at the time: wide vertical red, white and blue stripes on the rudder and circular targets on the wings. 

They were men were lodged at the local, Jupiter hotel, The Carlin House. Carlin White met his wife in the Town of Jupiter, they eloped in 1905 and in 1907 had a baby boy they named him Carlin.
