The Club Scrub is hosting a free “Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day” this Sunday, May 19th at the Jonathan Dickinson State Park. The biking event starts at 9 am and goes until 1 pm at the Camp Murphy Off-Road Mountain Bike Trails.

The event features guided trail rides for all ages, a variety of biking trails for all skill levels, a free family barbeque lunch, snacks, beverages, raffles and goodie bags. They hosted the same event in the fall and the biking day had over 350 kids participated in November’s event. The purpose of the event is kids and their families to the joy of mountain biking.

This Saturday, May 11th the 5th Annual Live Like Jake 5K Run and Walk is taking place at the Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter. The Run and walk benefits and continues to raise money for ISR self-rescue swimming lessons to help prevent childhood drowning.

The 3.1. mile run and walk is an asphalt course and is a USATF Certified Course. The 5K runners will be electronically chip-timed during the run. During the run there will also be a Jake’s Mile walk and all ages are welcomed to attend.

Finisher medals will be awarded to all runners. Awards will be given to the overall Masters and Grandmasters for both male and female winners for each age group.

The Roger Dean Stadium in Downtown Abacoa is home to two professional baseball teams for their Spring Training and home to two Minor League and two Rookie baseball teams.

The stadium is the only stadium in the country to host two Minor League teams and two Rookie Level teams, The Jupiter Hammerheads, Palm Beach Cardinals, Gulf Coast Marlins and the Gulf Coast Cardinals. The two Major League teams that share the stadium for Spring Training include the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins.

This weekend the stadium is hosting three Minor League baseball games.

The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, May 4th where more than 20 thoroughbred horses get an opportunity of a lifetime to run the race for the 145th year. This year, several Palm Beach County restaurants will be serving their best Mint Juleps and specials for the race.

Crosby Kitchen and Bar in Jupiter is hosting their first annual derby party and its for charity. The party is reservation only and cost $50 dollars per ticket. Jupiter Hammerheads are playing the Bradenton Marauders at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Abacoa tomorrow, May 2.

The Hammerheads have been off to a bit of a rough start this season, they are currently on an 11 game loss streak and they fell the last time they faced the Marauders on April 30 in a tough 1-8 loss. This is sure to be an interesting game as the Hammerheads try to work out their mound issues and get their season back on track.

The Florida State Park is located in Martin County between Tequesta and Hobe Sound just 5 miles north of Jupiter. The park features a variety of natural habitats, river swamps, wildlife, 16 natural communities, hiking and biking trails, water activities, guided tours, food courts, and mangroves. Jonathan Dickinson State Park has the Loxahatchee River, Florida’s first federally designated scenic and wild river runs through the middle of the park. In 2013, the state park won the TripAdvisior’s Certificate of Excellence.

New to 2019, the Palm Beach Zoo has announced their Big Cat 5K Race that is taking place on Saturday, May 4th. The Race and the proceeds support the Palm Beach Zoo’s partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society to protect the animals in the wild.

The race is Saturday, May 4th at the Palm Beach Zoo in West Palm Beach. This run is a chip-timed run and your running bib will have an electronic chip that starts its timer once you pass the starting line. Walkers are allowed to join in on the fun and are asked to stay behind the runners at the starting line to allow for a runner pathway. Jupiter’s Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is teaming up with Palm Beach Improv and some local breweries to bring you an all new event called Brew Ha Ha.

This Saturday, April 27th the stadium will be filled with craft beers, a comedy and of course baseball. In addition to the Brew Ha Ha, the Jupiter Hammerheads versus the Dunedin Blue Jays baseball game at 5:30 pm.

Registration is now open for the 8th Annual Run 4 The Sea 2019. The run supports the Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s mission of ocean conservation and sea turtle research and rehabilitation.

The run is a timed 4 mile run along A1A in Juno Beach and Jupiter. The race is Saturday, June 15th and is open to all runners and walkers who wish to participate. In addition to the 4-mile run there will be a 1-mile Kids Fun Run that will start at 8:15 am after the 4-mile run has started. The cost of the 1-Mile Kids Run is $20 dollars and it includes a child’s t-shirt and a finishers medal. Parents can either cheer on their child along the run or join in on the run for no additional charge.
